Guadalupe River State Park is located in Spring Branch Texas. Guadalupe River State Park is along the Guadalupe River southwest of Austin Texas. It is one of the State Parks that provide recreational opportunities for all ages at the same time protects park resources such as wildlife, trees and the river. It has a lot to offer.

Friday December 1, 2006

We arrived at Guadalupe River State Park about 4:30 p.m. I am excited I am at a new place, I know I'm going to meet new people and dogs and chase some deer. When dad was checking in the lady at the desk told him he had to make sure all our food was put up at nighttime because they have raccoons. I'm not sure what a raccoon is but I think it is an animal of some kind. While mom and dad setup camp I checked everything out. We stayed in Turkey Sink camping area because it has electricity and water. Cedar Sage is designed for tent camping only and only has water. Wagon Ford is a walk-in tent camping area, it doesn't have either electricity or water, you have to carry in your own water. Our site was right next to the hiking trail which was great because you can hike right down to the river. The site was fantastic, it had a picnic table under the trees and a grill, dad likes to barbecue, he brings his own because he finds it's easier. Dad cooked some chile on the grill for dinner and I ate my special food. We walked around the camping area a little, we didn't go too far because mom and dad were cold, I didn't care, I like the cold as long as there is sun. We went inside and turned on the heater so it could warm up the Minnie before mom and dad went to bed. While we waited for it to warm up mom baked some cookies. It smelled so good and the stove helped warm up the Minnie. I went to bed early so I could get rested up for my hike in the morning , maybe I might see a raccoon.

Saturday December 2, 2006

I was so excited I woke my dad and mom up early in the morning before the sun came up but mom told me to wait awhile because it was cold. I waited until about 7:00 a.m. we had breakfast while we waited for the sun to warm things up a little. It felt warmer outside than in the Minnie. The temperature outside was 32 degrees but we still hiked about 4 miles. We hiked to the river, where dad took some pictures of the steam coming off the water that, was neat. We hiked to the picnic area where people swim, canoe and tube in the summertime. We walked around the other camping areas, they are very nice and well maintained. We hiked by the amphitheater and interpretive center. We hiked a trail, it has a lot of rooks and it was muddy. I didn't mind it at the beginning because it felt good on my feet then after awhile I had so much mud that it was hard to walk. I tried to shake the mud off my feet but it would not come off so I gave up. Mom and dad kept on looking for the best path to take so they could avoid the worse of the mud. Mom stopped to take some pictures so dad and I had to wait for her. When I saw her I ran to her, that helped get some of the mud off my feet, that was fun. On the way back mom and dad had to take me down to the river so I could walk in it to get the rest of the mud off my feet. I didn't mind because I love the water while I was walking in the river mom took some pictures of birds in the trees and the river. On the way back to our campsite I met our neighbors at the playground they had three kids. I love kids and I think the kids liked me because they played with me. I really enjoyed that. We went back to the RV and rested a little before we had lunch, I needed that because I was tired.
After lunch we went for another 4 mile hike. We hiked part of a loop trail, the whole loop is 5.3 miles. In order to get to the trail you walk down the main road. We walked pass the area where you meet for the guided tour, dad thought about taking the tour but I couldn't go because no dogs were aloud. Mom and dad wanted me to go hiking with them. The loop was muddy but it wasn't as muddy as the trail in the morning. We still walked down to the river so I could walk in the water, I always have fun doing that. When we got back to the camping area more people had arrived. I love that because I could meet more people and maybe dogs. I didn't meet any dogs but I did meet some boys. The boys came over to say hi and I was very excited, I was so excited I jumped on one and got him dirty. Mom said I was sorry but his dad said it was ok because it was part of camping, they weren't mad at all. We had some dinner and went inside because it was still chilly and we were tired. I was so tired I went to bed early so I could get rested for our morning hike. I didn't see any raccoons or deer but I still had a great day.

Sunday December 3, 2006

I let my mom and dad sleep in a little longer today because I slept better, I was really tired the night before. Mom and dad said they slept better because the Minnie was at the right temperature. Now that I slept so well I’m ready to go again. We walked another 3 ½ miles, this time we hiked the other part of the loop we had hiked the day before. It was a little warmer today, it is 42 degrees. We walked down the main road to get to the trail we saw some deer, I really wanted to chase them but dad wouldn't let me because I had to stay on leash. I still enjoyed seeing the deer because the day before we didn't see any wildlife. After we hiked the loop we walked down to the river so I could get my feet clean but I was distracted by some kids, they were throwing rocks in the river. Even if they didn't come over to say hi I still liked seeing them. We went back to the campsite and broke camp. Mom and dad packed everything up and made sure everything was safe for the trip home. I was still tired from all the hiking so I just stayed out of the way. We're on the way home from the Guadalupe River State Park now it's time for me to get rested up for my next camping adventure, which will be next weekend, hopefully.

I'm excited my parents told me that we're going to Pedernales Falls again. I remembered Pedernales Falls was the very first camping experience we had in the Minnie. Pedernales Falls has a lot to offer.

Friday December 08, 2006

We arrived at Pedernales Falls State Park, about 4:30 p.m. The campgrounds are very beautiful and peaceful, hardly anyone is here. After mom and dad setup camp we went for a little walk around the campgrounds before it got dark. When we got back from walking dad made some dinner. After dinner dad made a campfire, that was great because it was a little cold and I like campfires. We didn't stay out too long because mom and dad got cold, I didn't care because I like the cold.

Saturday December 09, 2006

I let mom and dad sleep until 7:00 a.m. they were glad because it got cold during the night. After we had some breakfast we went for a hike. We hiked 7 miles up and down the hills around the Pedernales River and along the river. It was a very nice hike. Some places in the hills it is steep and narrow. I thought I couldn't get down off the hillside so dad had to help me down. I explored the hillside it was beautiful and a lot of different smells. The Pedernales River runs at the bottom of the hill so we hiked down to it. As we were hiking along the river we saw some wild hogs and I met a group of boys and their dads, that was exciting. Some of them talked to me, it was great. We went back to camp and had lunch. The rest of the day we took it easy because we were tired. It was a fantastic day.

 Sunday December 10, 2006

We woke up about 7:00 a.m. we ate breakfast. Afterwards we hiked down to the group campground where the boys were staying. During the hike we saw deer. It was drizzling the whole hike but we still walked about 3 miles and we had fun. We returned back to the campground and broke camp. The rain was going to stay in all day so we headed back home. It was a fantastic camping experience and we will be going home so we can get rested up for our next trip.

I am very excited we're going to a new place. We're going to McKinney Falls! McKinney Falls State Park is located in Austin Texas. McKinney Falls State Park is by the Austin airport. Onion Creek and Williamson Creek forms the falls. It is one of the State Parks that provide recreational opportunities for all ages at the same time protects park resources such as wildlife, trees and the history of the falls. It is a beautiful park and has a lot to offer.

Thursday December 21, 2006

We arrived at McKinney Falls State Park, about 11:00 a.m.I'm excited at the same time a little disappointed. Dad told mom and me that we couldn't have a campfire because there is a burn ban. The campgrounds are very beautiful and have a lot of trees. After mom and dad setup camp I went exploring around the site and we went for a hike. We hiked for 3 1/2 miles down a paved trail. The hike is fantastic, you hike along Onion Creek that ends up at a beautiful walk through in the hill, a horse trainer's home and the falls. While we were at the falls I met a couple of dogs, I really liked that. We saw some deer during the hike. Mom and dad took some pictures during our hike. When we got back to the campsite we had lunch. After lunch we went for a little walk around the campground where I met a couple of friends and I played with them, that was fun. The rest of the afternoon we relaxed around the site. Before we called it a night I saw some deer at the back of the campsite, I was excited about that.

Friday December 22, 2006

I let mom and dad sleep in until about 7:00 a.m. because it was a little cold. We had breakfast and went for another hike, it was about 4 1/2 miles. We hiked the trail that wasn't paved. The trail had some leaves on it so it was a very nice, my paws didn't get too sore. The trail runs on the other side of the lower McKinney falls. We hiked to the falls and took the Homestead Trail that runs for 3 miles. It is beautiful because it goes through groves of trees. Mom and dad took some pictures of a old homestead and the falls. The homestead belonged to Thomas McKinney in the 1840's. The trail goes by the Texas Parks and Wildlife buildings. I had a lot of fun because I did a lot of exploring. The park is named after McKinney. There is a lot of history in this state park and the park is fantastic. When we got back to the campsite we had some lunch. After lunch we went on a short hike, it was about 1 mile, it was very relaxing.

Saturday December 23, 2006

We  woke up about 7:00 a.m. we went for a little hike around the campsite down part of the paved trail. We hiked about 2 miles. During the hike I met two dogs and we played together while mom and dad visited their master. I was tired afterwards but I had fun. We continued our hike, by the time we got back it was time to back camp. We left a little early because a storm was suppose to come through in the afternoon. I had a lot fun and met some new friends but now I need to rest up for my next trip.

DATE:  12/27/06 – 12/30/06     SPACE:  07     TRIPS: 16      DISTANCE:  68 miles

Hi wow this is my fourth trip this month. My mom and dad told me we're going to Bastrop State Park I've been there once just for a little hike, I never camped there. We arrived at Bastrop State Park about 1:00 p.m., but they told my dad they were full so dad asked them to call Buescher State Park. Buescher State Park had opening so we went there. I was a little disappointed but I got over it because I remembered Buescher State Park and I liked it very much.

Wednesday December 27, 2006

We arrived at Buescher State Park shortly after we left Bastrop State Park we ended up getting the same space as we had last time. I am excited, I decided to do some exploring around Cozy Circle while mom and dad setup camp. I met our neighbor across the way, they have two dogs, I think am going to like this trip. Mom had to bring me back to our space and we had lunch. After lunch I took mom for a mile hike around the campground. We walked to the tent campground and partly down the road that leads to Bastrop Lake. The road to Bastrop Lake is 11 miles long, I think that was too long so we took a trail that leads back to the campground. I wasn't sure mom knew where we were going but we returned to the campground with no problems. There was dad waiting for us. We took it easy the rest of the day because we're planning to go on a long hike tomorrow.

Thursday December 28, 2006

I let mom and dad sleep in until 7:30 a.m. We ate some breakfast and then we started our adventure through the trees. The hike is very beautiful, it has a lot of trees and pine needles on the ground so it made it an easier hike. The hike is about 8 miles long. I explored in the trees to see if I could find any deer but I didn't. We saw a Cancer Research Center about 2 miles into the hike, it's a big center in the middle of nowhere. The hike is very peaceful, it runs along a creek with hills and trees. You walk over a bridge and up a big hill, it's a fantastic hike. On the way back to the campground I met a dog named Jessie, she is a yellow lab like me, I was excited and we played awhile. I was so happy I met a friend by the time we got back to the campsite I was tired. My mom and dad were also tired so we just took it easy for the rest of the day. We had to get rested for the next day.

Friday December 29, 2006

We woke up about 7:00 a.m. and had breakfast. After breakfast we went for a little walk around the campsite because it was raining a little. We didn't want to walk too far because there was a big storm on the way. It was ok because I was still tired from our long hike yesterday. It sprinkled on and off all day. Mom took me for a couple of walks to the tent campground and along the road to get back. I enjoyed that very much. The storm came in about 3:00 p.m. so we spent a lot of time in the RV. I slept, dad read a book and mom worked on her word search books. It was really relaxing. It rained hard on and off all through the night.

Saturday December 30, 2006

We slept in a little, we didn't get out of bed until 8:00 a.m. Mom and dad had breakfast and I ate my special food. Mom and dad broke camp and waited for the roads to clear a little before we headed back to Austin. I had a lot of fun now I have to rest up for my next adventure in my Minnie. Bye bye.
