I've been waiting for two weeks to go camping. We haven't been camping because the weather has been rainy and nasty. This weekend is going to been gorgeous. The lows are going to be in the 40s and the highs in the low 60s. Mom had to work so I had to wait for her to come home. She came home about 2:00 and dad had the Minnie ready to go. Mom changed her clothes and we headed to Jim Hogg Park. We have been here many times so we knew the routine. We arrived at Jim Hogg Park about 3:30 when dad was checking in the man at the gate said that he was early. It took dad awhile to catch on to what he met. Dad looks like Santa Claus because he has a long white beard and looks like Santa Clause. Once he figured it out they both laughed. The man gave dad a map of the park and the campsites. Dad drove around to find a campsite. The park was almost empty so we had no problem finding a site. After we decided which site to take we went back to the gate and check in. We went back to the campsite and set up for the weekend. When mom and dad finished setting up we went for a walk around the camping area and down to the lake. Once we were at the lake I started to whine because I wanted to go swimming I hadn't been swimming for awhile. Dad told me that I could go swimming. I swam for a little while and than we continued our walk around the park. We walked for about an hour. As we were walking around we noticed that the park wasn't as busy as it usually is. We also met the park host she was driving around and welcomed us to the park. When we returned to the campsite it was time to have dinner so mom fixed sandwiches for dad and her. She fed me my food. We ate inside because it was getting a little chilly. After dinner mom baked peanut butter cookies.

Saturday December 19, 2009

I woke mom and dad at 7:30. Mom got up and fed me and than took me for a walk. When we returned to the Minnie mom sat down and had breakfast with dad. After breakfast we went for a hike. We hiked for about 2 hours for 4 miles. As we were hiking we heard birds on the lake and in the trees. Dad saw a few deer. We saw one person on the trail he was riding his bike. When we got to the creek we cross during our hike was little more of a challenge today because it was flowing a lot more than usually. Mom and dad had to step on rocks to get across it. But before they walked on the rocks they found a stick to help them cross on the rocks. Dad did great. I had fun watching mom because she is more timid than dad  and she almost fell in the water. Once we cross the creek we hiked through a field. We usually see deer in the field but today we didn't. The last time we walked through the field we saw a deer feeder but this time it was gone. We hiked 2 miles and than rested on some rocks. As we were resting the biker came by and stopped to visit with us. After his visit we went back to the campsite. On the way back we walked through the upper loop of the park because it is closed this time of the year and I could walk of leash. As we were walking the upper loop I met my neighbor she was 2 years old she started to bark. She wanted to play with me but she was scared of me because I was a lot bigger than her. Her dad picked her up and than we said hi to each other. Mom, dad and I finished our hike back to the campsite. When we got back to the site we sat on our chairs to rest before we had lunch.

For lunch mom made chili for dad and her and she gave me a little snack. After lunch we stayed in the Minnie because it was windy and too cold to sit outside. Dad read a book and mom work on her book. Before dinner mom and dad took me for a walk around the lower loop by the lake. I didn't go swimming because it was too late and I was tired from our hike in the morning. As we were walking a met a bull dog named Hippo. Hippo wanted to play with me but his dad was afraid that he would hurt me. I slept and Hippo sat down while mom and dad visit with his mom and dad for awhile. By the time we got back it was dinnertime.

For dinner mom made soup for dad and her and gave me my food. After dinner mom and dad stayed inside. Dad read and mom worked on her book. Mom also made peanut butter cookies. I was so tired that I slept.

Aunt Louise had to work Christmas day so we decided we were going to go camping for Christmas. Mom and dad decided to go to Buescher State Park. A couple of weeks ago dad called and made reservations for 4 nights at Buescher.

Wednesday December 23, 2009

Mom had to work today so helped dad get ready for our camping trip. When mom came home we were ready to go. Mom changed out of her work clothes to her camping clothes. We hadn't been to Buescher State Park since January so it's very exciting for me. Dad made reservations to stay in Cozy Circle in advance because at Christmas time the state parks are very busy and hard to get in. When we arrived at Buescher the lady at the gate told dad to tell the man inside he want campsite 5. Dad told the man and the man said that was a great site because it was the handicap site. Dad asked him if they were full and he said no there was only one more RV there. Dad checked in and we drove to Cozy Circle the other RV was the camp hosts. We had the whole circle to ourselves. This is the first time we were ever in Cozy Circle by ourselves. Mom and dad set up camp. After they finished we walked around the the campground to the tent sites. The tent sites were empty no one was there. The lake is located right behind the tent sites. As we were walking around the tent sites we were surprise to see how full the lake was. Usually when we walk around the tent sites we couldn't see the lake but today it was right up to the back of the sites. I guess Buescher has been getting a lot of rain lately that's probably why no one was here. Buescher has a beautiful small lake for fishing stocked with catfish, bass, crappie, perch and rainbow trout. We walked for about an hour. It was a very nice walk. I walked off leash because no one was there. When we got back it was time for dinner. Mom fed me my food and made ham sandwiches for dad and her. After dinner we stayed inside because it was starting to get a little cold. Mom backed sugar cookies.

I let mom and dad sleep in until 7:45 am because it was cold. Mom fed me my food and than took me for a walk around Cozy Circle while dad got dressed. When we returned to the Minnie mom and dad sat down and had their breakfast. After breakfast we went on a 8.5  mile hike. We hiked the hiking trail, which is 7.7 miles round trip. In order to get to the hiking trail we walked through the tent sites. Once we were at the trail we hiked through pine trees I always like doing this because they needles on the ground make my feet feel good. We hiked about a mile through the trees until we got to the pipeline road. When we got to the road we hiked the trail along the road until the trail reached the trees again. While hiking the road we had to watch where we stepped because there was mud all over the place. Mom and dad walked around the mud when it was possible. When the the mud puddles were too big to jump over or go around they walked on rocks or trees branches that were laying across the mud. I didn't care I just walked through the mud and than walked through tall grass to get some of the mud off. On the other side of the road we hiked to the Cancer Center. When we got to the center we hiked around a construction fence in order to continue our hike. As we hiked through the trees we saw a lot of trees that had fallen during a storm. Some one had removed most of the trees from the trail so people could still use the trail. The trees that were left on the trail were great because then we had to climb over them. I always try to find the easiest way either I climb under the tree or jump over it. Today I had to climb over the trees because there were no room for me to go under any of them. During our hike we had to cross the main park road a few times in order to hike the trail. After we cross the road the first time we hiked the trail until it Y off. One direction was longer then the other we decided to take the longer direction. This was great because we climbed down a hill, hiked along a creek, hiked across the creek and up a hill. This part of the trail wasn't as muddy as the first part. This part of the trail continued through trees. When we were half way through the hike we decided to rest. Dad found a log to sit on. The log was wet so mom had to put a few plastic bags on it so dad and her could sit on it. Mom always has plastic bags with her because she picks up after me. After our rest we continued our hike. When we got back to the Cancer Center we walked back to the park along the main road. I was already dirty but mom and dad didn't wanted me to get more mud on me. As we were walking along the road we saw a few cars. We saw a park ranger and he stopped and visit with mom and dad a little while. After his visit we went back to the campsite. We had a great hike but we didn't see any deer.

Once back at the campsite mom and dad cleaned me up and set up the chairs. We rest awhile before lunch. Dad barbecued sausages for dinner. Mom cooked up red bean and rice for a side dish. Mom gave me a snack. After lunch we sat in our chairs enjoying the campsite. As we were resting another camper showed up. We're not alone any more. I didn't care because I was tired and the sun was shining so I decided to do a little sunning. After awhile mom took me for a walk around Cozy Circle.

When dinnertime came around dad barbecued pork chops. Mom fed me my food. After dinner we decided to stay inside because it was starting to get cold. Mom baked some cookies. In the evening mom worked on her book, dad read and I slept.

Friday December 25, 2009

Merry Christmas!!! I let mom and dad sleep in again because it was cold last night. I finally got mom and dad up at 8. I was ready to have breakfast and go for a walk. Mom fed me and got dressed. After she finished getting dressed she took me for a walk around Cozy Circle while dad got dressed. When we got back dad was ready. Mom and dad sat down and had breakfast. After breakfast we went for another hike. Today we hiked 7.5 miles. We hiked the same trail but instead of hiking along the pipeline road we decided to hike the main road to the Cancer Center because it wasn't as muddy as the trail. When we got to the Cancer Center we hiked the trail through the trees until we got back to the main road. We crossed the road way we did yesterday but when we got to the Y we decided to go the shorter way. When we hike the shorter direction it cuts off about a mile. Mom decided on this direction because she was afraid I was still tired from the hike yesterday. She was right but I still stayed up with mom and dad. On the way back to the Cancer Center we hiked by a pond. This pond was full also mom and dad were surprised to see it so full because we never had seen it that full before. I was very good I didn't go swimming in the pond. I was too busy exploring to even pay any attention to the pond. Once we were back to the Cancer Center we walked along the road again. The road wasn't busy today probably because it's Christmas. When we got back to our campsite we headed towards our chairs. I was so tired I didn't make it I had to lay down in some leaves by the dumpster. Dad let me rest a little while and than he lead me to my chair. As we were resting our neighbor decided to take her two dogs for a walk I barked at them to say hello. Her dogs were eleven years and dad told her that I was friendly I was just saying hi. After she left I slept a little before lunch.

For lunch mom made soup for lunch. Mom gave me a snack. After lunch we sat in our chairs. The park ranger came by while we were sitting in our chairs dad asked him what to do about our site if we were going to be gone. The park ranger said he would bring an occupy sign by in the morning. Dad thanked him. Later on the lady next door and her husband went for a ride on their scooters. This was fun to watch. While we were sitting in our chairs a few cars drove around the park and another camper showed up. Mom and dad were amazed that the park was empty. In Cozy Circle there were only 4 campers and the park ranger said in the other camping area there were only a couple of campers and a couple of the cabins were occupied.

At dinnertime it started to get cold and so mom and dad folded up the chairs and put them away. Dad also put the grill away. Mom made dad and her chile pie for dinner. Mom fed me my food. After dinner we stayed inside and relaxed.

I woke up mom and dad at 7 am because we're going to Houston. Mom got up and fed me. After I finished eating mom took me for a walk around Cozy Circle. While we were walking around dad got ready to leave. When we returned to the Minnie mom and dad sat down to have a little breakfast. After breakfast the park ranger came by to give dad the occupy sign. We usually don't leave the park when we're camping but today is a special occasion. My parents' friends Roberta and Paul are in Houston for the holiday so they decided to drive down to Houston to see them. Roberta and Paul use to leave in Austin with their dog JIB but now they live in Florida. Houston is 2 1/2 hours from Buescher. We were on away to Houston at 8. I slept all the way to Houston. When we got to Houston dad gave Paul a call to let him know we were on our way to his father in-law's house. When we arrived at the house mom and dad left me in the Minnie so they could visit awhile. I didn't mind because I was tired and I could sleep while they visit. Robert's dad had 2 dogs and a beautiful house. Mom and dad visit for awhile and than went to lunch with Roberta and Paul. Before they went to lunch mom took me for a walk. As we were walking I met a family. The family wanted to meet me so mom let me say hi. After the family left mom put me back into the Minnie with water and a snack. Mom said she would be back in a little while. Mom and dad went to lunch with Paul and Roberta at Chuy's. When they got back from lunch they visit with Robert's dad for a little while longer. Before we left Roberta and Paul came to see me and the Minnie. Roberta said she couldn't let us go without seeing me. I was very excited to see them both. After they played with me we all said good-bye and we headed back to Buescher. On the way back to Buescher mom and dad decided to come home instead because mom wasn't feeling well. That was ok because we were just going to stay at Buescher for the night and head back home in the morning. We had a great Christmas trip to Buescher State Park and Houston. Good-bye and Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas

Wednesday December 30, 2009

Aunt Louise had to work on Christmass so we decided to celebrate Christmas today. Aunt Louise decided she wanted to sell her entertainment system because it took up too much room in her living room so mom and dad went over to her house to move it. Mom and dad moved the entertainment system into her garage and while they were there they moved around a couple of televisions to different rooms. We celebrate Christmas at our house every years so while they were at Aunt Louise's house they pick up the Christmas gifts that were there. She had so many gifts that they wouldn't fit in her car. Wednesday Aunt Louise came out to the house to celebrate Christmas. She arrived at 3:30. Mom made ham hock and beans and ham enchiladas for dinner. After dinner mom, dad and Aunt Louise opened their gifts, It took them 4 hours to open all the gifts. Mom opened my gifts I got a snowman stuff toy, Beneful holiday pack snacks, toy (Lil Hot Diggity Dog) and figure 8 rope toy. Mom and dad got a lot of wonderful gifts. They got so many gifts it would take forever to type all of them on the page. We had a fantastic Christmas. Ho, ho , ho Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
