The Minnie is in the shop so this gave us an opportunity to go on a hike at Canyonlands Trails of Lakeway. We always have a great time hiking here. We hike up and down hills and through the trees. While we were hiking today we notice that the trails were expanded. So we decided to hike the new part. The new part took you closer to a creek and very nice to hike. We hiked over bridges, along the rim and through trees. We didn’t see a lot of people hiking the trails. I met a golden retriever as we were hiking he was running with his master. We were almost finished with our hike we saw a family hiking with their dogs. The family was very nice and told us that had a couple of dogs and they were busy exploring. I said hi to the family and when I saw the dogs that made my day. One dog was my size and the other one was a small dog. We all played together while our masters visit. After we finished playing the family continued their hike and my parents and I finished our hike. When I got back to the truck I was very tired and hot so I slept all the way home.

Friday February 6, 2009

We arrived at Muleshoe Bend Park about 3:30 p.m. Dad checked in at the office for the weekend and than dad drove to the campsite. We decided to stay at the same spot as we did the last time we were here. When we got to the campsite mom and dad set up camp and I did a little exploring around the campsite. After mom and dad finished setting up camp we went for a walk around the park. We walked about an hour and a half for 3 miles.

It was a very peaceful walk there was no one around. We walked to the restroom where we saw a few deer at the site right behind it. When I saw the deer I decided to run after them. I didn’t go too far because they disappeared into the trees. After I lost the deer in the trees I turned around and ran back to mom and dad so we continued our walk. As we were walking back towards the campsite when a park policeman stopped and talked with mom and dad for awhile. He told us that the only other campers in the park were a group of men clear on the other side of the park. After he left we continued our walk. When we got back by the campsite we decided to walk a little longer. So we walked down by the lake. Mom and dad didn’t want me to go swimming so they kept an eye on me. While we were walking along the lake I was being real good until I saw a couple of people riding their bikes towards the lake. They had a dog so I lost it. I had to go and play with the dog. Mom and dad had seen the dog way before I had. They saw him running after some deer through the trees. When I saw him he was going to the lake for a swim so I joined him in the lake. We swam awhile and said hi to his parents. After I finished swimming we went back to the campsite for dinner.

Mom and dad had sandwiches for dinner and I had my special food. We ate inside because it was very windy. We stayed in doors for the rest of the night.

Saturday February 7, 2009

Mom and dad woke up about 7:00. The wind was blowing all night so I was just barely waking up. Mom and dad got out of bed and got dressed. Mom fed me my special food for breakfast and than sat down with dad to have breakfast. After we finished eating we went on an 8 mile hike for about 4 hours.

We hiked the dirt road that goes around the camping area to get to the mountain bike trail. We saw a few deer at the same spot we saw them yesterday. I was too busy exploring I didn’t pay any attention to them. When I finally saw them it was too late they were in the trees. As we were hiking along the road we saw a young couple camping out in a tent so I had to introduce myself. Mom and dad tried to call me back but I get stubborn sometimes so I kept running to them. When I reached the couple their dog came out of the trees with a Kong he had found. The dog’s name was Rusty and he was a golden retriever. While mom and dad visit with the couple Rusty and I played. After I finished playing we continued our hike to the trail. As we were hiking the trail we saw a few more this time I chased after them. We were almost to the entrance of the park when we saw a few bikers. They were riding their bikes real fast we only had enough time just to say hi. When we got to the entrance the bikers were finished for the day and were stretching. We went to the picnic table and rested. As we were resting one the bikers came over and gave dad a chew for me. Dad thanked him and put it in his pocket because I can’t have beef and the chew was a raw hide chew.

After our rest we continued our hike on the trail. When we got close to the lake dad sat at a table while mom took a few pictures. When mom finished we hiked back towards the Minnie. We were almost back when mom and dad decided to let me go swimming. So we walked to the lake. I swam for awhile I was very happy because I was hot and the water felt so good. After I finished we went back to the campsite to rest a little before lunch.

It was windy so we went inside and had lunch. Mom and dad had sandwiches and mom gave me a snack. After we finished our lunch we went for another hike. We hiked 2 hours for 3 miles. We hiked along the lake towards the park boundaries fence. As we walked along the lake we saw a free people fishing and a couple of fishing boats on the lake. We also saw someone riding on a jet ski. I thought this was a little weird because it’s February and the water is a little cold. I was very good I didn’t go swimming but I did do a lot of exploring. We were almost to the fence line when we turned around and headed back to the campsite.

When we got back to the campsite we sat in our chairs for the rest of afternoon. As we were enjoying the campsite a deer came running through the campsite. I sat there and watched it run into the trees. This was so cool I sat there for looking for another one to come by because usually you don’t see just one deer by itself but another one never did come by. When dinner time came around we went inside. Mom made some pancakes and fed me my special food. We stayed inside for the rest of the time.

Sunday February 8, 2009

Mom and dad woke up about 7:00 am. Mom fed me my special food. After I ate mom and dad sat down and had breakfast. After breakfast we went for a 4 mile hike for 2 hours. We hiked by the lake again. This time we hiked all the way to the fence line and back. It was a very nice hike. We didn’t see any deer this time but we did see a few people fishing. As we were walking along the lake we saw a man and woman getting ready to go home. When I saw them I introduced myself to them. They were very friendly and said hi to me. After they played with me I ran back to mom and dad. When we got to the fence we turned around and headed back to the campsite. When we got back to the Minnie we sat in our chairs for awhile. After we rested mom and dad broke camp and we went home.

Friday February 13, 2009

We had a great time last weekend at Muleshoe Bend Park so we decided to come back for the weekend. We arrived at 3:30 pm. After mom and dad set up camp we went on a 1 ½ hour hike for 3 miles before dinner. The wind was down and it was a little over cast which made the hike very pleasant. We hiked along the lake to the property fence line. When we got down to the lake dad let me go swimming. After I finished my swim we continued our hike. During our hike we saw a few deer in the trees and I found a couple of bones. When I find the bones I give it to dad. One bone I found was a deer chew bone with little teeth in it. This was very neat because mom and dad didn’t know deer had teeth. While we were hiking we noticed that there were a few more campers today than last weekend. There were a few campers camping by the lake and in a couple of the campsites next to ours. On the way back to the campsite dad found a gas container so he picked it up to throw it away. As we were walking a long the road with the gas container a young couple saw us and asked if we needed a ride some where to get gas. Dad explained that we were found it and just wanted to keep the park clean. When we got back to the campsite mom and dad had dinner. They had ham hock and beans while I had my special food. After dinner we stayed inside. Mom baked some cookies. Dad read, mom worked on her book and I slept.

Saturday February 14, 2009

I woke up about 6:45 am and woke mom up. Mom fed me and than took me for my morning walk. When we got back dad was still in bed. Dad got up shortly after mom and I returned. Mom and dad sat down and had breakfast. After breakfast we went on an 8 mile hike for 4 hours. During our hike we saw only one biker and a few deer. The deer were hiding the trees. I didn’t chase them because they were too far away. This time I didn’t find any bones but dad did. Dad found an antler it was so cool that mom took a picture. Dad also found a lot of little things along the trail. When we got to the park lot to rest we noticed that it was empty. There were no bikers and we always see cars in the parking lot. I guess maybe the economy is slowing everyone down. Even through it cost $5.00 to use or stay at Muleshoe Bend Park. After we rested we continued our hike. When we got to one of the restrooms in the camping area I met a new friend. My friend’s name was Lucky. He and his master were coming to Muleshoe for over 30 years. They were staying on the lake. While mom and dad visit with Lucky’s dad I played with Lucky. After we finished playing we went back to our campsite. We got back mom fixed lunch. Mom and dad had the rest of the ham hock and beans and mom gave me a snack. After lunch mom did dishes. As she was doing dishes dad surprised her with a box of candy and a card for Valentine day.

In the afternoon we stayed inside for a while because it was windy and cold. While we were inside mom and I took a nap and dad read. When mom woke up we went on a 1½ hours for 3 miles hike to the lake. During our hike we saw the young couple we met the day before. They were staying by the lake. When I saw them I ran to them to say hi. I had to be careful because they were sitting on a blanket with food. But they still said hi. After I said hi we continued our hike. It was a nice hike because we saw people camping by the lake and a few fishing boats going down the lake. When we got back to the campsite we sat in our chairs to rest. As we were sitting in our chairs we saw people showing up to camp. This was great to see. When dinnertime came around we went inside.

Mom cooked up some taco meat for dinner. Mom fed me my special food and mom and dad had tacos. After dinner we stayed inside. Mom baked some cookies. Dad read, mom worked on her book and I slept.

Sunday February 15, 2009

I woke mom and dad up at 7:45 am. They both got out of bed and got dressed. Mom fed me and than sat down with dad to have breakfast. After breakfast we went on a 4 mile hike for 2 hours. We hiked 2 miles of the mountain bike trail and 2 miles along the lake. It was a fantastic hike. We saw deer, I did some exploring and we saw a few bikers. One biker was by himself and we saw a group of four bikers. Two bikers in the group were going through a class on how to bike the trail. When I saw the group I had to go up to them to say hi. They didn’t mind because they were waiting for us to go by. They were very nice. After we visit we continued our hike when we got to the fence line we hiked down a hill. As we were hiking down the hill I saw a wind chime in a neighbor’s backyard. I wasn’t sure what it was so I stood there looking at it. Mom and dad had seen the chime before so they explained to me what it was. I still wasn’t sure so I barked at it. After I barked at it we continued our hike back to the campsite. When we were hiking back we saw that the campers were getting ready to go. When we got back we broke camp. When mom and dad finished backing camp we headed back to the house. We had a great time at Muleshoe Bend Park. I slept all the way home because I was very tired.

Friday February 20, 2009

We arrived at Jim Hogg Park at 3:30 pm. We drove around the park to find a camping site for the weekend. We decided to stay at campsite 76. We didn’t have to drive too far because every year the upper loop of the park is closed for the winter and doesn’t reopen until March 1. After we checked in we went to our campsite to set up for the weekend. After mom and dad finished setting up camp we went on an hour walk around the loop. We were just starting our walk when a young couple from across the road came over with their two dogs so the dogs could meet me. While mom and dad visit with the couple I played with their dogs. One dog was a Chihuahua named Pee Wee and the other dog was a Fox Terrier named Cookie. I had a lot of fun playing with them. Cookie wasn’t too sure of me because I was so big but Pee Wee didn’t care. In fact Pee Wee was trying to climb on my back. After I finished playing we went on our walk. As we were walking along the loop by the lake I met another dog. I never found out what his name was but he was a Goldendoodle. He was very excited to see me so mom and dad took me over to him so we could play. We had a great time while mom and dad visit with his mom. When we returned to the campsite we had dinner. Mom and dad had bean burritos and I had my special food. We ate inside because the wind came up. We stayed inside for the rest of the night.

Mom took me for a night walk before she put me to bed. When we were walking we saw a jack rabbit. I wanted to chase it but I was on leash and it was dark so mom didn't want me to chase it.  I had a great time today but now it’s time to get some sleep.

Saturday February 21, 2009

I woke mom and dad up at 7:15 am. Mom got up and fed me. While I was eating mom got dressed. When she finished getting dressed she took me for my morning walk. When we returned to the Minnie dad was still in bed so mom and I waited for him to get up. When dad got up mom and dad sat down and had a little breakfast. After breakfast we went on a hike for 3 hour for about 1 ½ hours.

While we were hiking it started to rain a little. We weren’t sure how long the rain was going to stay around so we turned around and ahead back to the campsite. On the way back we met a man and his dog. The dog’s name was Molly and she was a Labrador and Dofferman mix. She was a gorgeous black with a lot a shine to her coat. While mom and dad visit with her dad Molly and I played. After I finished playing we continued our hike back and Molly and her dad finished their run along the trail. When we got back to the campsite the rain went away but the wind came up and it started to get cold so we went inside.

When lunch time came around mom fixed bow ties noodles and spaghetti sauce for dad and her. Mom gave me a snack. After lunch I went to mom’s seat to go to sleep. I slept for until dad decided to go to the bathroom. I was fine until I saw dad stop on the way to play with Pee Wee and Cookie and that’s when I decided I wasn’t tired any more and wanted to play. Mom let me out and I ran to way dad was. Pee Wee, Cookie and I played while mom and dad visit with their mom and dad. After I finished playing mom took me back in the Minnie to rest. When dad came back mom and he took a nap.

Mom and dad woke up about 3 from their nap. We decided to go on another walk around the park. When we got to the lake we stopped at campsite that wasn’t being used. We sat at the table to enjoy the lake view. It was great. We saw our first wildflower. Spring is just around the corner because the flowers are coming out and the trees are starting to get new leaves. While we were looking at the lake we saw a couple of fishermen and a catamaran flying across the lake because the wind was strong. As we were walking around the loop we saw the Goldendoodle again. So of course we had to play. We didn’t play too long because he had company and his mom had to get back to them. There were people throwing horseshoes and just having a great time just like us. When we got back to our campsite we went inside because it was getting colder.

While we were inside we noticed that our neighbors were packing up to go home. We’re lucky because we’re in a RV and we can keep warm but our neighbors were in a screen shelter and the cold will just go right through it. I’m going to miss playing with Pee Wee and Cookie. When dinnertime came around mom and dad had sandwiches and mom fed me my special food. It was another great day and now it’s time to get rested for tomorrow.

Sunday February 22, 2009

I let mom and dad sleep in until 7:30 am. I was rested and ready to go. Mom and dad stayed in bed for a little while because it was cold. When they finally got up mom fed me my special food while mom and dad got dressed. After they got dressed they sat down and had breakfast. When we finished our breakfast we went on an 8 mile hike for 3 ½ hours.

Our hike was along the mountain bike trail (Goodwater Loop Trail) to the dam and back. We hadn’t hike this way for a long time. Our hike started along one of the arms of Lake Georgetown. When we got to the cove we had to hike through we saw a few deer on the other side of it. They saw us so they ran. We hiked through the cove to the other side. When we got to the other side we hiked through trees and over rocks. As we were hiking mom was busy talking and not paying any attention and ran into a tree. Dad and I were ahead of mom when we heard a thump and we turned around it was mom she ran right into an arm of an oak tree. She was ok she just hit her head. We continued our hike through the trees, over rocks and through a couple more coves. We were close to the 22 mile marker when we saw a rock wall so we decided to rest awhile. After our rest we continued our hike to the dam which was about another mile. When we got to the dam people were starting to show up. We saw people hiking, walking their dogs and people fishing. We rested a little while at the dam and than started back to the Minnie.

On the way back we saw a mom and son hiking looking for wildflowers and few people hiking down a hill to the lake to go fishing. We were back at Jim Hogg Park when we saw three people jogging a long the trail. I didn’t chase after anyone because I was too tired. When we got back I was exhausted so I laid under the ramada to rest while mom and dad broke camp. I had a fantastic time at Jim Hogg now it’s time to go home.

Sunday February 1, 2009

In the afternoon mom took me down to the Homeowners’ Park so I could go swimming. As mom and I were walking to the lake we stopped to say hi to our neighbors. When we walk to the lake we have to walk right by a house that has a couple of dogs. Today there were four dogs instead of two. SAS and H live there with another dog I don’t know his name yet because he’s still a pup and his dad hasn’t told mom his name. The fourth dog is Vivian. She visits sometimes and I met her before. I really had a great time playing with all four of them. After we finished playing I continued my walk to the park. When I got to the lake mom and I were the only ones there. I went swimming. As I was swimming I saw things that are usually under water so I had to check them out. I saw some ducks and I did some exploring. Mom and I were starting to home when Pablo showed up with his mom’s sister. While mom and Pablo’s aunt visit Pablo and I played. I like playing with Pablo because he likes to run around and go swimming. As Pablo and I were playing another neighbor showed up. It was Jesse she lives across the street from me. She was there with her dad. Her dad was going to the dock to check out their boat so I ran to them to play. Jesse, her dad and I got on a little tow platform to get to the dock. So we all went for a little ride Pablo just stayed on the dock and looked at us. We didn’t go too far when Jesse’s dad decided to take me back because mom was ready to go home. When we got back to the bank Pablo came running to Jesse and me to play so were all played until Jesse’s dad was finished checking out the boat. When Jesse went home Pablo and I played a little longer. After we finished playing we said our good byes and mom and I went home. On the way home mom and I stopped again to say hi to the other neighbors. I had a great day at the lake.
