Comfort Inn Suite room in Lubbock                                   Mom working out at the motel

Saturday February 9, 2013

I'm very excited because I'm going to visit my Aunt Louise and Cousin Autumn for a week, while mom and dad goes to Santa Fe to go snow skiing. Last year mom and dad didn't going skiing because the places they usually ski at didn't have enough snow but this year New Mexico got some snow so they decided to go. Dad called Aunt Louise and asked her if she would take care of me for a week. She said she would be happy to take me. We arrived at her house about 7 in the morning, she was surprised we were there that early because she had just gotten home from work. Mom and dad visited for a little while and then said their good-byes. I wanted to go with them but they told me I had to stay with Aunt Louise. Aunt Louise told me that I would have a great time because I could sleep with her in her water bed. Mom also had cooked up some chicken for my snacks while I was with Aunt Louise so I knew I would have a great time. So I'm going to say good-bye and let mom tell you about dad and hers snow ski trip.

Hi, after Larry and I dropped Flo off with her Aunt Louise we headed towards Santa Fe, New Mexico. We could have drove all the way to Santa Fe but we decided to stop in Lubbock, Texas for the night. Our drive to Lubbock was all highway so it wasn't that exciting. The scenery was the hill country and plains. The only wildlife we saw were a few hawks. We stopped a couple of times to stretch our legs. Before we got to Lubbock we stopped at Subway to have lunch. After lunch we continued our adventure to Lubbock. We arrived at the Comfort Inn Suites in Lubbock about 3:30 and checked in. I started a diet a few weeks ago and I have lost 7 pounds and wanted to keep with the diet while on our vacation. The diet I'm on is MyFitnessPal program, where it keeps track of how many calories I in take. When I workout the program will tells me how many calories I burned. I'm allowed to have 1200 calories per day but if I exercise those calories are added to the daily amount. When I'm at home I workout with the WII Fit and the ROKU free workout programs. I didn't know that Comfort Inn had a workout room so I workout in our room for about an hour. I brought some light weights and a resistance tube with us so I worked with these for 30 minutes. The other 30 minutes I did a Jazz program that I had been doing on the ROKU. Larry told me that the hotel had a workout room so we went down there and I worked out on the stepper for about 15 minutes. After I finished my workout we went out to dinner to a Greek restaurant. Larry had a Gyro and I had a salad. The food was delicious. When we got back to the motel we relaxed and watched TV and read.

LOCATION:  Santa Fe, New Mexico    SITE:  Super 8    DATE:  02/10/2013 - 02/14/2013   DISTANCE:  316 miles

Sunday February 10, 2013

Larry and I woke up about 7 and got ready to move on to Santa Fe. After we got dressed we went to the breakfast area and had breakfast. Larry had 1/2 of a Belgium waffle and orange juice and I had a bowl of oatmeal and orange juice. After we finished breakfast we left the Comfort Inn. Today, Larry drove 316 miles to Santa Fe. We weren't in any hurry so Larry set the cruise control at 55. When we got to the New Mexico state line we moved our clocks back an hour. The drove was very relaxing and I dozed off a few times. When we got to Kline Corner we stopped for lunch at Subway. We had a foot long Forest Ham sandwich. After we ate we continued to Santa Fe. We arrived in Santa Fe about 2 and found our hotel which was Super 8. Once we got to the motel Larry checked. We already had a reservation so it didn't take too long. After checking in we went to a Ski Tech so we could get our skies waxed. It was going to take an hour to have them done so we decided to walk through a Trader John Market store. We don't have one in Austin so this was a new experience for us. The store was very busy. We didn't buy anything but we were impress by how the store was set up and how easy it was to walk through it. After leaving Trader John Market we went to Whole Foods which was right across the street from Trader John Market. We were really surprise because it wasn't busy at all. Once again we didn't buy anything. When we left Whole Foods we returned to Ski Tech and picked up our skies. Afterwards we went back to our motel room. We weren't sure if the Super 8 had a workout room so I worked out in our room with weights and did the Jazz program I did yesterday. The Super 8 we stayed at was close to a few fast food restaurants so after I worked out we walked to the Long John Silver and had dinner. After dinner we walked back to our room and called it a night.

Dad at Angel Fire Resort                                                            Mom at Angel Fire Resort

LOCATION:  Angel Fire, New Mexico    SITE:  Angel Fire Resort   DATE:  02/11/2013   DISTANCE:  93 miles

Monday February 11, 2013

Today we woke up at 7:30 and went downstairs to have a little breakfast. Larry had a 1/2 Belgium waffle and orange juice and I had oatmeal, strawberry yogurt and orange juice. After breakfast we drove to Angel Fire Resort which is 93 miles from Santa Fe. We arrived at Angel Fire at 10 and parked in a parking lot and took a shuttle to the resort. We skied at Angel Fire for a four hours. We ate lunch while we were there. We had a delicious tamale plate, which came with two tamales and French fries. We had a super time skiing at Angel Fire. The employees were friendly and helpful. Everytime I go skiing I wear a hat so Larry can see me on the slopes and I always get complements on it. After skiing we took the shuttle back to the parking lot. When we got to Taos we stopped at an O'Reilly because the truck was low on oil. We got back to our room about 4:30. I didn't workout in the room because I had enough of a workout on the slopes. By snow skiing for 2 hours I had earned 1025 more calories. When it was time to get dinner we walked over to Schlotzsky's and we shared a medium Hawaiian sandwich. Larry and I always share meals so this was enough for us. After dinner we went back to our room and called it a night.

Tuesday February 12, 2013

We woke up about 7 and got dressed to go skiing. Afterwards we walked down to the breakfast area to have breakfast. Larry had a pastries and orange juice and I had oatmeal, blackberry yogurt and orange juice. As we were walking to the truck we noticed that the wind was blowing and it was cold (18 degrees) and we started to drive to the ski resort. While driving through town we decided not to go skiing because we knew it would be colder up on the mountain. We had been to Santa Fe a few times and we had done all the site seeing before and if we were going to do them again it would be cold so we decided to go back to the motel. Before we went back we stopped by Wal-Mart and did a little shopping. When we got back to our room Larry read the newspaper and I read. We had only reserved our room for three nights so as we were relaxing in our room Larry decided to go to the front desk and register for a couple more nights. The lady at the desk told him that it would be cheaper to reserve the room through Price Line. So when he got back to our room he registered us for another two night. The lady was right it was $6 cheaper through Price Line than what they would charge. When lunchtime came around we hand Canadian bacon sandwichs with some chips. After lunch I worked out. I did some weight lifting, the routines that came with the resistance tube and a Jazz program. While I was doing this Larry found out that there was a workout room by the desk so when I finished my workout we went downstairs and I did the treadmill for 45 minutes. While I was on the treadmill Larry played with the weight machine. After I finished working out we went back to our room and relaxed. About 4:00 Larry asked me if I would like to go to a casino and gamble a little and I said sure so we went to the truck and went to Buffalo Thunder Casino. The casino was hugh and had a non-smoking room in it. We were at the casino for 2.5 hours and I lost $10. After we left the casino we drove back to Santa Fe and stopped at Tortilla Flats for dinner. We had a big nacho for dinner and then we went back to our room and called it a night.

Mom on top of slopes at Ski Santa Fe Resort                          One of the ski trails mom and dad skied

Wednesday February 13, 2013

Today we woke up at 7:30 and it was 18 degrees outside. At Ski Santa Fe Resort you can get half day tickets in the morning and afternoon. So we decided that we would go skiing a half day in the afternoon. So we put on our jeans and a shirt instead of our ski clothes and then went downstairs for breakfast. Larry had danishes and orange juice for breakfast and I had oatmeal, yogurt and orange juice. After we ate breakfast we went to Jiffy Lube to get on oil change. After the oil change we went back to our room to relaxed. At lunchtime I made turkey pastrami sandwiches for lunch with chips. After lunch we got dressed in our ski clothes and went to Ski Santa Fe Resort. We got there a few minutes after 12 and they couldn't sell the tickets until 12:15. After buying our tickets we hit the slopes. We had a great day of skiing and the 3.5 hours that we skied was plenty of time. By the time we came off the slopes we were exhausted. On the way back to our hotel we stopped at Taco Bell and had dinner. When we got back to our room we relaxed for the rest of the night.

 Thursday February 14, 2013

Happy Valentine Day!!!!!! Larry and I woke up at 7:30 and got dressed in our jeans. We decided that we were going skiing again in the afternoon. We went downstairs to have breakfast. Larry and I both had pastries and orange juice for breakfast. After breakfast we went back to our room and relaxed. When lunchtime came around I made turkey pastrami sandwiches. After lunch we got dressed to go skiing and then we went back to Ski Santa Fe Resort. We had another fantastic day of skiing, even though I fell one time. Both days we were here the employees were very friendly and helpful. They always had a smile on their faces and enjoyed working with each other. On the way back to the motel we stopped at KFC for dinner we shared a pot pie and chicken tenders. When we got back to our room we changed back into our jeans because Larry was taking me to another casino. We drove where the other casino was supposed to be but we couldn't find it so we went back to Buffalo Thunder Casino. It was a lot busier than it was a couple of days ago. We figure maybe it was because the last time we were here was on a Tuesday and today is Thursday. Or maybe it was because it was Valentine Day. We stayed for a couple of hours and I gambled away $6. We figured that was too bad for entertainment for two hours. When we got back to our room we were tired so we called it a night.

LOCATION:  Lubbock, Texas    SITE:  Howard Johnson    DATE:  02/15/2013   DISTANCE:  316 miles

Friday February 15, 2013

Today we woke up about 6:30 and got ready to our adventure back to Austin. After we got dresses we went downstairs and had breakfast. Larry and I both had a couple of danishes and orange juice. After breakfast we loaded up the truck and began our adventure towards home. Larry made reservations for the night at Howard Johnson in Lubbock. On the way to Lubbock we stopped and had lunch at McDonald's. I had a side salad with Low Fat Italian dressing and a pack of apple slices. Larry had the McDouble. We didn't buy anything else because we had chips and snacks in the truck. I wanted to watch what I ate during the day because we're planning to go back to the Greek restaurant for dinner. When we got to Lubbock we had trouble locating the Howard Johnson. The Howard Johnson that was in our GPS didn't have the same address that Larry had. As we were driving to the Howard Johnson that was on the GPS we found the right one, which wasn't that far away from the Comfort Inn we had stayed at on the way to Santa Fe. The Howard Johnson that we had reservation at was new and totally smoke free. After Larry checked in we went to our room. A little while later I went to the front desk and asked if they had a workout room and the gentleman told me no they didn't have one. So I worked out in our room because I wanted to keep to my diet. I workout doing a Jazz program, light weights and resistance tubes. I worked out for an hour and burned 390 calories now I can go to the Greek restaurant and eat a Gyro and have a Baklava for dessert. When dinnertime came around we went to the Greek restaurant. Larry had a club Gyro and I had a Grilled Chicken Pita sandwich. For dessert Larry bought two different Baklava so we both had half of each one. One was a triangle Baklava with chocolate in it and the other one was a rolled Baklava with almonds in it. While we were eating our sandwiches we decide we should have shared one because we were full so we took the Baklavas back to our motel room. When we got back we called it a night and spent the rest of the night relaxing in the room.

Saturday February 16, 2013

We woke up about 6:30 and got ready to leave Howard Johnson. After we got dressed we went to the breakfast area and had breakfast. Larry had read about the breakfast that was offered at Howard Johnson and the reviews weren't too positive. But we found that the breakfast wasn't that bad at all. The breakfast area had oatmeal, bread, toaster, microwave, a Belgium waffle maker, orange juice, apple juice, blueberry mini muffins, small glazed donuts, milk and cereal. The breakfast that was offered was just as good as the rest of the motels that we had stayed at. I had a donut, muffin and orange juice and Larry had the same. During our ride back home we had snacks. When we got to Brownwood Texas we stopped at Taco Bueno for lunch. Larry and I shared a Chicken Chilada Platter. After lunch we continued our adventure home but before we went home we stopped to pick up Flo at her Aunt Louise's house. When mom and dad got to Aunt Louise's house I was outside on the deck sunning. Mom came out and said hi to me I was enjoying the sun so much that I just wagged my tail. Mom said hi a second time and then I realized it was my mom so I got up and ran in the house to say hi to dad and mom. I was really excited to see them and so was Cousin Autumn. We stayed for a little while to visit and because dad had to work on Aunt Louise's computer. After dad finished working on the computer we went home. Once we were at home I went straight to my bed and went to sleep. I was happy to be home. Mom and dad unpacked the truck and relaxed the rest of the day. We didn't get home until about 5 and mom cooked a pizza for dinner. Mom didn't workout today so she blow her diet big time. She's only allowed to have 1200 calories a day if she didn't workout and today she had 2287 calories. Mom I'm sorry you blew your diet but I know you will get back on your diet tomorrow. I had a fantastic time visiting with Aunt Louise and Cousin Autumn but now I need to rest. Mom and dad told me they had a great time snow skiing and they missed me. I missed them, too. Now we all need to rest so we'll be ready for our next adventure.

Thursday February 21, 2013

Today was the first day of the RV Show at the convention center and mom and dad decided they would go to it. Before they left mom made me a Kong. After dad gave the Kong to me they went to the RV show. It took them about an hour to work through the show but on the way home they stopped and did a little shopping. They like going to the show on Thursday instead of the weekend because it's not too busy. They walked through some of the RVs and took a lot of pictures. They saw a few Cs, As, Bs and a lot of travel trailers and fifth wheels. They always like going to the show because it gives them a chance to walk through some new RVs. They liked some of the floor plans and they we surprise that the RVs they walked through didn't have any carpeting in them, which is fantastic. When they got home I was excited to see them. Once again mom didn't workout but she did get credit for walking around the convention center.

Friday February 22, 2013

Mom has been on her diet for a little over five weeks and has lost 10 pounds, way to go mom. Today we hung around the house and relaxed. After lunch mom went outside and picked up my droppings and then she took me down to the park. She needed to go to the dumpster so she drove down the park. After she got rid of our trash she drove to the gazebo and parked the truck. We walked around the park for 45 minutes. As we walked around I explored and swam. This was the second time mom took me to the park. The first time was the day before mom and dad's Santa Fe Ski Trip. Mom and I had great time at the park even though no one was at the park.

DATE:  02/26/2013 to 03/02/2013    SPACE:  00    TRIP:  87    DISTANCE:  28 miles

Tuesday February 26, 2013

Today we're going to go camping at Muleshoe Bend Park. Dad loaded me into the truck and then we all went to get the Minnie out of storage. While we were getting the Minnie the couple that manages the place came by and visited with mom and dad. After they left we dad drove the Minnie to our house and mom followed with the truck. When we got home mom and dad got the Minnie ready to go camping. We weren't going to leave until after lunch so mom didn't load up the food. She waited until after lunch because we couldn't turn on the refrigerator until the Minnie was on a flat area. Before we left dad walked next door to ask Sarah to keep an eye on our mail because he was excepting a package and we were going camping for a few days. She said she would. When he got back we started our camping adventure to Muleshoe Bend. We bought a yearly pass to the LCRA parks so we didn't have to stop at the office. While driving to our site we saw a few deer in the trees and stopped to visit with the park host (Larry). He told us that he was going to the LCRA park that was at La Grange for six months and then coming back here. Dad asked if there was going to be a host here while he was gone and he said no. He was going to La Grange because the LCRA needed him there because the host there had quit. After our visit with Larry we went to our site. When we got to our site we setup the Minnie for a few days. When we finished doing this we went on a walk for 3 miles around the park for about 90 minutes. Our walk was by the lake so dad let me go swimming. When we got back we setup our chairs and relaxed. When dinnertime came around dad barbecued some sausage patties for sandwiches and mom fed me my food. Mom and dad also had chips to go with their sandwiches. After dinner we went for another walk around the park for 2 miles. During our walk we saw a lot of deer. Both walks were very peaceful because we were the only campers in the park. When we got back we went inside. Once inside mom put made my bed up. After she finished doing this mom and dad had dessert, which was Oreo cookies and mom had sugar cookie pudding. I was glad mom made my bed because I was tired. We stayed inside for the rest of the night and relaxed.

Wednesday February 27, 2013

Today we woke up at 7:30. Dad rolled out of bed and got dressed. Then he fed me my breakfast and made oatmeal for mom and his breakfast. Mom stayed in bed until breakfast was ready. After everyone was fed we went on a 4 mile hike. We hiked 3 miles of the mountain bike trail to the entrance and then we hiked the road back to our site, which was a mile. During our hike we saw deer and a biker a couple of times on the trail. By the time we got back to our site we had hiked for 2.5 hours and we were tired so we went to our chairs and relaxed. While we were relaxing we saw a couple of SUVs show up with dogs. They went down to the lake so their dogs could run and swim. The wind was blowing so when lunchtime came around mom made a salad for dad and her lunch. Mom gave me a milk bone and a couple pieces of ham. After lunch we stayed inside because it was too windy and cold to stay outside. About 3:00 mom and dad decided to go for a walk around the park they left me in the Minnie because I was tired. They we gone for an hour and had walked 3 miles. While they were gone I sat in mom's chair and waited for them. When they got home I was excited to see them. After we said our hellos we sat outside until dinnertime. For dinner mom microwaved beef stew for dad and her dinner and fed me my food. After dinner we went for another walk we walked 2 miles for an hour. When we got back we went inside and called it a night. When we walked around the park we saw deer. Before dad went to bed he setup the heater so when mom went to bed she could turn it on. About midnight dad crawled out of bed because it was hot in the Minnie. He checked the heater to make sure mom had put it on low. She had so he crawled back into bed and went back to sleep.

Thursday February 28, 2013

Today we woke up at 7:00 but dad didn't get out of bed until 7:30 because it was cold. Dad told mom she could stay in bed because it was a little cold. It was 57 degrees inside and 36 degrees outside. Dad and I were glad mom turned on the heater before she went to bed because it would have been a lot colder in the Minnie. Dad got dressed and then fed me my breakfast. As dad was getting dressed he looked out the window and saw deer right by the Minnie. After getting dressed he made oatmeal for mom and his breakfast. When breakfast was ready mom crawled out of bed and got dressed. After everyone was fed we went on a hike. Today we hiked 4 miles of the mountain bike trail and a mile to the trail for 2.5 hours. We hiked a mile of the road around the park to the trail. We hiked about a mile of the trail to the entrance and then rested. As we were resting we watched the host get ready to leave. After resting we went over to visit with Larry and to say good-bye to him. When we finished our visit with Larry we continued our hike. The last part of our hike was the last 2.5 miles of the mountain bike trail. On the way back we stopped a couple of times to rest. On the way back to our site we hiked by a campsite and saw a white van. We had seen the van yesterday when we were hiking but today there was a chair by it so we knew we weren't the only campers in the park. Yesterday when we walked by the site I did a little exploring but today I was too tired. After hiking by the van we hiked the main road back to our site. During our hike we saw deer. When we got back to our site we rested in our chairs until lunch. The wind was blowing again so mom and dad had sandwiches for lunch. Mom had a ham sandwich and dad had salami and ham sandwich. I had a milk bone and mom gave me some ham. After lunch we went outside to relax in our chairs. Mom and dad read and I sunned. This is the life!!! The sun is shining and the wind is blowing so it kept it a little cool. About 3:00 mom and dad decided to go on a walk today I didn't want to be left behind so I joined them. We walked around the park for an hour and half and walked 3 miles. We saw deer. When we got back to the Minnie we relaxed a little while and then mom started up the generator and microwaved bacon for dad and her dinner. Mom and dad had bacon sandwiches for dinner and mom fed me my food. After dinner we went on another walk we walked for an hour for a couple of miles. When we got back we went inside for the night.

Friday March 1, 2013

We woke up about 7:00 but didn't get up until 7:30 because it was colder today then yesterday. It's 48 degrees inside and 24 degrees outside. Once again dad was glad that mom turned on the heater before she went to bed. When dad crawled out of bed he got dressed and fed me. Today when dad looked out the window he didn't see any deer. Before dad made oatmeal for mom and his breakfast he turned the heater on high to get the chill out of the air. Mom crawled out of bed when the oatmeal was ready. After everyone was fed we decided to walk around the park instead of hiking the trail because we're going to take it easy today. Our walk was for an hour and half for 3 miles. We walked around the park to the other restroom where we saw a lot of deer grazing on a hill that was by another campground in Muleshoe Bend Park. As we were watching the deer we saw another van in the other campground. After watching the deer a little while we turned around and started back to our site. The walk back was by the lake but I didn't go swimming today because it was too cold. When we got back to our site we stayed outside because the wind wasn't blowing and the sun was shining. Oh, boy this is going to be another beautiful day. Mom and dad read and I sunned for an hour and half and then mom made lunch. She heated up leftover sausage patties for sandwiches. Mom gave me a milk bone for a snack and dad and she had a sandwich with chips. After lunch we went back outside and relaxed all afternoon. While we were relaxing three men came by and asked dad where they should go to put their boat in the lake. Dad told them where to go and they thanked him. About 3:00 we went for a walk but this time we only walked a half hour because we were a little tired. When we got back to our site mom went inside because the wind came up and she thought it was cold. Dad and I didn't stay outside for a little while and then we went inside to keep mom company. When dinnertime came around mom made dad and her a salad with some ham. Mom gave me some ham while she was making the salads. After mom made the salads she fed me my food. After dinner we went on another walk for 45 minutes. When we got back to our site we bagged our chairs because tomorrow we're going home. After putting the chairs away we went inside and called it a night.

Saturday March 2, 2013

Today we woke up about 7:00. Dad got out of bed about 7:15 and got dressed. Then he fed me my breakfast and started to make oatmeal for mom and his breakfast. While he was making the oatmeal mom crawled out of bed. Mom got out of bed earlier than she has been because we're going to leave early today because dad wanted to get back to the house so mom could go to a Yoga class at our homeowners park. One of the ladies (Dayna)  in our neighborhood got certified to teach Yoga and started getting classes at the park every Saturday morning at 10:00. Last week mom went to the class and liked it so dad wanted to make sure she got back in time to attend again. After everyone was fed we went on a walk around the park. We walked for about an hour. When we got back to our site mom and dad finished getting the Minnie ready to go. We left Muleshoe Bend Park about 8:15. As we were leaving we saw deer in the trees. We had a fantastic time at Muleshoe Bend Park even though we were the only campers. When we got home mom and dad unloaded the Minnie. Afterwards it was time for mom to go to the Yoga class. When she got to the park no one was there she waited a few minutes and then she came home. Dad e-mailed Dayna to tell her that mom showed up but no one was there. Dayna e-mailed him back and said it was too cold to have the class. She also said she was sorry and that she would post earlier in the week if she was going to have a class next week or not. Mom was disappointed but she wasn't going to let it get her down. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!
