Today mom took me down to the homeowners park for the second time this month. I've been trying to get her to take me somewhere for a few days. She kept on telling me that it was too cold but I kept pestering her until she gave in. Dad bought a new camera for Christmas so mom told him that she was going to take our new camera with her. On the way to the park we walked by my friends (SAS, H, Chaps and Vivienne) house. Their dad (Chuck) was home so mom said hi to him. She asked if he still had Vivienne because she hadn't seen her. Chuck told her that Vivienne was around somewhere. His dogs were barking so mom went up to them and paid attention to them. When she did this they stopped. I stood by her and watched while she did this. After we finished visiting with Chuck and his dogs we continued to the park. While we were at the park I explored and swam. As I was doing this mom played with the camera. She was impressed by the camera because it took great pictures. We walked around the park for about an hour. On the way home we visited with Chuck's dogs again. I had a great time.

Monday January 7, 2013

Wow!!! I can't believe it mom is taking me back to the park two days in a row. She decided to take me because it's suppose to rain tomorrow and the next day. On the way to the park we said hi to Chuck's dogs again. Today Vivienne came out to say hi. Mom still doesn't trust Vivienne so she keeps an eye on Vivienne. Our walk around the park was very peaceful because no one was there. The lake was also was quiet. We walked around for about an hour. But on the way home instead of going by Chuck's house we decided to walk by the road. When we were walking by the dumpster we stopped and said hi to a homeowner name Harold. After we visit with him we continued our walk home. We were almost to our street when another homeowner (Ed) was going to his mailbox and I decided to say hi to him. I was off leash so I ran to him. He likes dogs so he stopped and paid attention to me. We visited with him for awhile. When we got back to the house dad was worried because we gone longer than normal. Mom explained that we stopped and visited with Harold and Ed. We had another wonderful time at the park.

The rain stopped yesterday and mom needed to take the trash to the dumpster so she asked if I wanted to go to the park. Mom, do you really think that I wouldn't go with you to the park. I've been pestering mom for couple of days to go somewhere because I was bored. So mom loaded me up in the truck and we headed down to the park. When we got to the park we stopped at the dumpster and mom let me out of the truck so I could do a little exploring while she put the trash in the dumpster. After she finished she drove us to the gazebo and parked the truck. Then we went for a walk around the park by the lake. When we were walking around we met a lady and she paid attention to me. After I finished saying hi I continued my walk. As I was walking I stopped occasionally to swim and snack on dead fish bones. We walked about an hour, then mom put me back in the truck and we went home. I had a great time at the park because I met someone new, explored and swam.

Saturday January 19, 2013

Today mom took me down to the homeowners park so I could go swimming and explore. As we were walking to the park we said hi to Chuck's dogs. We saw all four of them (SAS, H, Vivianne and Chaps). We were the only ones at the park today so our 45 minute walk around the park was very peaceful. I only swam a little but I did do a lot of exploring. As we walked along the banks of Lake Travis we saw a few sailboats, a couple of fishing boats and few more boats. After walking around the park we started back to the house. We didn't go down the trail by Chuck's house instead we walked along the road. Mom decided to start doing this because it gives me a little change in my routine and I can do more sniffing. When we got to one of our neighbor's house their dog (Boone) was outside so I ran up to him to say hi. While I was saying hi the family came out to say hi. The family had two boys, Jack and Tyler and their mom, Ann. This was the first time I ever did this so it was exciting to me. After mom and Ann finished visiting mom took me home.

In the evening Brian and Linda Murphy came over for dinner. Mom and dad try to have them come out now and than because they really enjoy their company. For dinner mom made a tamale pie dish made with Campbell's Roadhouse Chili. A long with the tamale pie they had black beans and chips and cheese. For dessert they had ice cream. Of course mom fed me my dinner and a little ice cream. We had a super time with Brian and Linda. When they were leaving they said maybe next time they would bring their dog Bravo. He is an Australian Shepard. He's almost two years old so he's a lot younger than me but I don't care as long as I can play. LIFE IS GOOD!!!

Saturday January 19, 2013 and Sunday January 20, 2013

Our boat seat was starting to look bad and tearing so dad decided that he would take the cover off and get it fixed. Dad shipped the cover up to Dallas to get it fixed. He got the seat cover back a couple of days ago. It took mom and dad a couple of days to put the cover back on the seat. They could have done it in one day but they weren't in any hurry to do it. That's one good thing about being retired. Dad could have done it by himself but it would have been hard to do so mom helped him. While they were putting the cover back on I kept them company.

Phil from Blue Rock Studio wrote dad an e-mail inviting mom and him to a special live show about what happens behind the scenes during a recording session of an album. The band that was doing the show was Gabriel Santiago Quintet, a Brazilian band . The show was for three hours. During the show Billy Crockett interviewed Gabriel Santiago and the drummer, Wayne Salzmann II. The show was very interesting to see what happens during a recording session at Blue Rock Studio.

DATE:  01/30/2013 to 02/03/2013    SPACE:  00    TRIP:  86    DISTANCE:  28 miles

Wednesday January 30, 2013

We haven't do much this month and the weather was going to be beautiful for awhile so mom and dad decided to go camping. This morning we went and got the Minnie from storage. Mom and dad let me go with them to get the Minnie. When we got it home mom and dad got it ready for the camping adventure. We're going to Muleshoe Bend for a few days. Muleshoe Bend isn't too far away so we decided not to leave until after lunch. For lunch mom and dad had soup and mom gave me a chicken bone and a little chicken. After lunch mom and dad put our food in the Minnie. When they finished we left for Muleshoe Bend. On the way we stopped and got propane because we were getting low and we needed to run the refrigerator on it because Muleshoe doesn't have any hookups. We arrived at Muleshoe Bend at 2:00 and tried to check in but no one was in the office but dad left a note for the host. We drove to our regular site and setup the Minnie for a few days. After we finished we walked around the park for about a half hour. When we got back mom and dad setup our chairs. Afterwards dad and I sat in our chairs while mom made the bed. When she finished she join us. While we were relaxing the park host came by and dad paid him for four nights. The host had a friend with him and mom and dad visited with them for awhile.  When dinnertime came around mom and dad ate a salad with a little ham and I ate my food. After dinner we went for another walk around the park. We walked for an hour and a half by the lake. During both of our walks we saw a lot of deer. By the time we got back it was starting to get dark so we went inside for the rest of the night. While in the Minnie mom and dad read and mom worked on some of her Sudoku. I was tired from the walk so I slept.

One of the deer bones I found                                                  Enjoying my deer bone

Thursday January 31, 2013

Today we woke up about 7:30 but mom and dad didn't get out a bed until 8:00 because it was cold. Dad knew it was going to be cold so before he went to bed he setup the heater. When dad got up he turned the heater on high and made apple and cinnamon oatmeal for mom and his breakfast. While he waited for the water to boil he fed me my food. When the oatmeal was ready mom crawled out of bed. After everyone was finished with breakfast we went for a walk around the park. We decided to walk in the sun because it was cold. It got cold enough last night that there was frost on the grass and the windshield. We were glad that it wasn't windy like yesterday otherwise we would have been colder. We walked over 3 miles along the lake to the property line. As we walked we looked at the lake. Lake Travis is still low but it was very flat and pretty. Mom took a few pictures. I did a lot of exploring. When we got to the property line we sat on a log and rested. While we were resting I found a bone from a deer so I chewed on it. When it was time to head back I took the bone with me. I had trouble carrying it so dad put it in a plastic bag so I would be able to have it when we got back. As we were walking the road by the trees we saw a few deer running in the trees. By the time we got back we were tired so mom and dad went straight to their chairs to relax. Mom gave me the bone I found so I laid on the ground and started to eat it. I was happy just chewing on the bone. When it was time for lunch dad barbecued some sausage patties for mom and his lunch.

After lunch we sat in our chairs I even decided to sit in my chair. Mom started on a diet a couple of weeks ago. She using a program called MyFitnessPal, which is a program that dad found on the Internet. The program helps mom keep track of her calories and how many calories she allowed to have. If mom does any excise she earns more calories. The program tells mom how many calories she earned by excising. She enters what type of excise she does and then the program tells her how many calories she burned and sometimes she enters how many calories she burns. By doing this she's allowed to eat what she wants as long as it's in her calorie count. When ever she walks she get credit for the calories she burned so dad and I decided to help her out and walk with her, otherwise she wouldn't walk. About 3:00 we went for a walk around the park for about an hour. We walked to the other side of the park and then we walked by the lake. I wanted to go swimming but we were on a hill so mom and dad looked around to find a place for me to climb down so I could go swimming. I swam for a little bit and it felt so good. After I was finished we went back to our site. By the time we got back it was close to dinnertime. We sat in our chairs until it was time for dinner. Mom heated up a can of Chicken and Sausage Gumbo soup and made a small salad for dad and her. She fed me my food.

After dinner we went for another walk we walked for about a half hour. When we were walking to the lake I found another deer bone. This time mom took it from me and put it in a bag so I can have it tomorrow. I really didn't care but I picked up my speed so I could make sure she didn't throw it away. On the way back we saw more deer. When we got back to our site we sat in our chair until it started to get dark. When we got inside we relaxed and called it a night. By the end of today we had walked a total of 7 and half miles. I'm really tired so good night.

swimming in Lake Travis after a hike                            The hiking trail at Muleshoe Bend

Friday February 1, 2013

Today we woke at 7:30. Today mom and dad didn't stay in bed as late as yesterday because the temperature was in 40s instead of 30s. Dad rolled out of bed and made oatmeal for mom and himself for breakfast. While waiting for the water to boil he fed me my breakfast. When the oatmeal was ready mom rolled out of bed. After everyone finished eating breakfast we went on a two hour hike for 4.5 miles. We hiked to the bike trail and hiked 3 miles of the trail. On the way to the trail we saw a lot of deer grazing. When we got near the trail there were deer standing at the trail looking at us. We waited for the deer to leave before we got on the trail. When we started hiking the trail we saw a few more deer. Deer were everywhere. This was amazing because usually we don't see too many deer during our hikes at Muleshoe. I guess it's because we are concentrating on hiking and not looking for them. It's really hard to see the deer because they blend into the trees. Our hike went through trees and up and down hills. It was very peaceful because we were the only ones on the trail be didn't even see any riding their bikes. By the time we got back we were tired so mom and dad went to their chairs to relax. Before they did this dad took pictures of mom and me and then mom gave me the second deer bone that I found yesterday. This kept me busy until lunch. Dad barbecued pork chops for mom and his lunch. Mom gave me a few pieces of chicken for my lunch. Along with the pork chops mom and dad finished up some red, yellow and orange peppers.

After lunch mom and I went outside to relax, mom read and I sunned and chewed on my bone. Dad stayed inside to relax with a book. After awhile dad came out and joined mom and me. At 3:15 we went on a walk around the park we walked for about an hour. We walked a long the road by the trees and by the lake. When we got to the lake mom and dad let me go swimming because I was hot and my feet were tired. Before I got in the water I had found a bone so I carried it in the water with me. But when I was swimming I dropped it and it sank to the bottom. I didn't understand where it went so I looked for it awhile mom and dad laughed and told me that it sank. After awhile I gave up. I really didn't want to get out of the water because it felt so good but I finally did. When we got back to our site it was almost time for dinner. Before dinner we relaxed in our chairs. While we were doing this a few people started showing up to enjoy the park.

When it was dinnertime we all went inside. Mom started the generator so she could heat up some chicken and tortillas so dad and she could have wraps for their dinner. While mom was fixing dinner I kept her company because she had chicken and I know she will give me some. I wasn't wrong she did. After the chicken and tortillas were heated up mom fed me my dinner and then she sat down with dad and had dinner. After dinner we walked around the park for another hour. As we were walking a few more campers showed up and some of the people that came earlier were leaving. We had a great walk. By the time we got back we had walked and hiked about 8 miles today. Boy am I tired. As soon as we got back we went inside and I usually go and sat in mom's chair in the cab but not today I was way too tired so I laid right in the kitchen. Mom had me get up so she got put my bed down. After she finished do this I went straight to it and went to sleep.

Open cockpit plane flying over Lake Travis                              Ultralite flying over Lake Travis

 Saturday February 2, 2013

Today we woke up at 7:15. Dad got up and made oatmeal for his and mom's breakfast and fed me my food. When the oatmeal was finished mom crawled out of bed and sat down with dad and had breakfast. After breakfast we hiked for an hour and a half for about 4 miles. We walked a mile and a half to get to the trail. We hiked a mile of the trail to the property line of the park. Once there we hiked down a hill to the park road back to our site. During our hike we saw a few deer. The part of the trail we hiked went through trees, up and down hills and over rocks. Once again we were the only ones on the trail. We had a super hike. When we got back to our site we relaxed in our chairs until lunchtime. When lunchtime came around dad barbecued some Italian sausages. After lunch we didn't do too much because we were tired. Mom and dad read and I slept and sunned. While we were resting we saw an open cockpit plane and an ultralite flying overhead. About 3:00 mom went for a short walk but dad and I stayed at our site because I really didn't want to go on a walk and dad stayed back to keep me company. Mom was only gone about 15 minutes. When dinnertime came around mom heated up some sausage patties and tortillas so dad and her could have wraps. Mom fed me my food. After dinner we went on a walk for about 2 miles around the park. As we walked we saw a lot more campers and I said hi to a few fishermen. When we got back to our site we relaxed on our chairs and then mom and dad bagged our chairs because we're going home tomorrow. When we went inside I was glad that mom had made my bed up because I went straight to it and went to sleep.
