Sunday May 2, 2010

We woke up at 6:30. Mom and dad got dressed and then mom fed me my breakfast. After everyone finished their breakfast we went for a walk down the river trail. During our walk we saw the two geese and their babies swimming in the river. Mom took a pictures of them. When we got back mom and dad got the Minnie ready for our adventure to Boyd Lake State Park. Today is going to be a travel day so I'll probably do a lot of sleeping.

It rained all night so the roads are wet. As we were traveling to Boyd Lake State Park dad drove up and down mountain passes. It snow most of the way to Denver. We drove through Summit County which is known for snow skiing. We saw a lot of the big ski resorts ( Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Cooper). We also went through a few tunnels. The biggest tunnel we went through was the Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel. The Minnie did great going up and down the mountain ranges. The Minnie got 10.9 miles a gallon. Mom always gives dad a bad time about driving so slow but today he passed a few cars and trucks. I don't care how slow he drives because I sleep and I know he is a very safe driver.

We arrived at Boyd Lake State Park about 2:15. Dad checked in at the gate and found a site. Boyd Lake State Park is a big park. It has over 200 sites with electricity. After mom and dad setup camp we had lunch. Mom cooked chili for dad and her and mom gave me a snack. After we finished our lunch mom and dad took me for a walk around the park. We walked for about 45 minutes. There is a sidewalk that goes around the park so we walked it. The sidewalk runs by the lake and to the day area. At the day area there are picnic tables, a playground, a beach, restroom with showers and a concession stand. We walked pass the day area to the little marina. When we got to the marina we walked back to the Minnie. When we got back mom and dad put me inside and went to take a shower. When they got back I was waiting for them. I was excited. After we said our hellos dad decided to wipe some of the dirt off the Minnie. While he was wiping down the Minnie mom and I went to our picnic table to keep dad company. When dinnertime came around mom fed my food. Mom and dad didn't eat until later because they had a late lunch. After I ate mom took me for a little walk, while dad finished wiping down the Minnie. While mom and I were walking the wind came up, it got dark and started to sprinkle. When the wind came up it started to get cold. When mom and I returned to the Minnie we went inside and left dad outside so he got finish what he was doing.

About 6:30 mom and dad decided they would have dinner. Mom fixed some wraps or them. She also gave me a little chicken. After mom and dad finished their dinner we went for a walk. This time we walked towards a bridge. When we got to the bridge we saw a few people fishing and a couple of people riding their bikes. We walked over the bridge as we were walking over the bridge we looked over the side and saw water flowing into the lake. I thought this was cool. When we got to the other side we saw a 1/2 mile nature trail. So we decided we would walk it. Mom got a little brochure that explained different things to look for during the nature walk. As we were walking it mom would read from the brochure and we also met a man walking the trail. He was walking the trail the opposite direction than we were but when I saw him I wanted to say hi. He said it was ok so I did. We met him twice and both times he said hi to me and my parents. As we were walking along the trail we saw a few cottontails, ducks in the lake and we also saw a beaver swimming in the lake. We were heading back to the Minnie when I met a Golden Retriever and her dad. After we said hi to each other and my parents and her dad talked a little we went back to the Minnie. Once back we went inside and called it a night.

Monday May 3, 2010

We woke up about 6:15. Mom and dad got up and got dressed. After got dress she fed me and then sat down with dad for breakfast. When everyone was finished eating we went on a walk around the campground. We didn't walk too far because we're going to go to Walden Colorado so mom and dad could visit friends that live there. When we got back mom and dad got the Minnie ready for our adventure to Walden. Walden is about 120 miles from Boyd Lake State Park. After mom and dad were finished we started our adventure.

At the beginning of our adventure dad drove through a few cities. So dad had to stop at a lot of stop lights. We drove through Fort Collins is where Colorado State University. It was a nice little city. The downtown is right next to the university so it was busy. After we left Fort Collins we went down Highway 14. Highway 14 went through a gorgeous mountain range. There was a nice creek that ran next to the highway. As we drove through the mountain range we drove by some Federal Camping Areas but they were still closed. They won't open until June 1. If you wanted to stop along the mountain to take pictures there were pull overs and the day areas were open. As we were climbing up the mountain we saw snow on the mountain tops, on the trees and along the side of the road. The road was clear because there was a man in a truck blowing the snow off the road. This was so cool mom took a picture of him. When we got to the summit the elevation was 10,735 feet. Once we were out of the mountain range the scenery changed. The only scenery we saw was plains. Mom and dad thought this was boring. There were plenty of ranches on the way to Walden. There was a big lake but it was frozen. It was neat to see such a big lake frozen. When we got to Walden mom and dad found their friends place and went inside to visit. They had seen these friends in 18 years. They use to live in Austin. Mom and dad visit for a few hours. They left me in the Minnie but I didn't care because I got sleep. After their visit the came back to me and then we left Walden. Walden is a very small city. The population is 800 people and there is really nothing to do there. I was glad that we live in Austin because there is so much to do.

On the way back to Loveland Colorado we went a different route. We still went through the mountain range but at the bottom we took a county road. When we were going through the mountain range we saw a moose. He ran across the road mom didn't get a picture of him because she couldn't get the camera on in time. We stopped at one of the day areas and mom took pictures of the mountain creek. After she was finished we continued our adventure. The county road had a lot tighter curves than the mountain road so dad had to drive slow. Some of the curves were 10 mph. We saw some elk grazing in a pasture. Mom took pictures of them. On both sides of the county road the land was private property. The land was owned by ranchers. The ranchers had beautiful homes and ranches. On the ranches they had a lot of horses. It was a very beautiful drive but it was scary because the road was narrow and had a lot of tight curves. Dad was happy when we got on a better road. We got back to Boyd Lake State Park about 3:30.

We entered the park a different way so we saw more of the park. We didn't know that Boyd Lake State Park was that big. When we got to the entrance dad paid for another night. Once he finished paying we drove around the park to see how big it was. There is a  bicycle route that goes all the way through the park down to town. As we were driving around we saw people bicycling, fishing and boating. Today was a gorgeous day. The sun was shining and there were blue skies. So there were a lot of people enjoying the day. We decided to stay in another site then we did yesterday. We parked the Minnie closer to the bigger showers just in case mom and dad decided to take a shower. After we barked the Minnie mom took me for a little walk.

When dinnertime came around mom cooked some soup for dad and her. Mom fed me my food. After we finished our dinner dad watched the news to see what the weather was going to be like. After the news dad and I took a little nap. When we woke up mom and dad took me for a walk around the park. As we were walking a met some kids. They came in a bus and they were camping out in tents. Some of the kids said hi to me. After I met them we continued our walk. We walked passed a campsite and the lady said hi to me. We walked to the marina and back to the Minnie. As we were walking to the marina I met a couple of dogs and their parents. We walked about an hour. When we got back mom baked a cinnamon pull a part for dessert.

Tuesday May 4, 2010

We woke up about 6:15. Mom and dad got dressed and mom fed me my breakfast. Afterwards mom sat down with dad for breakfast. After breakfast mom and dad took me for a walk around the campground. When we got back to the Minnie mom and dad broke camp. Today we're going to the Rocky Mountain National Park and Frederick Colorado to visit mom and dad friends there.

Rocky Mountain National Park is 30 miles from Boyd Lake State Park. The drive to Rocky Mountain National Park is a beautiful drive through a mountain pass in Roosevelt National Forest. The Big Thompson River runs along side the road. We saw cabins, cottages, lodges, RV parks and a Bed and Breakfast. We had to drive through a cute little town (Estes Park). Estes Park has shops, restaurants and lodging. Estes Park also had miniature golf courses, a go cart course and a super slide. As we were driving by one of the miniature golf courses we saw a herd of elk. They were walking across a bridge and along the fence of the golf course. Dad stopped and took pictures of them. When dad came back we continued our adventure to Rocky Mountain National Park. We arrived at Rocky Mountain National Park at 8:30. We could only drive the first 11 miles because the road is closed because there is still a lot of snow in the mountains. It was a beautiful drive through the park. We drove to where the road closes. Mom and dad got out of the Minnie they left me inside because we were in a national park. They walked around the parking lot and took pictures of the Rocky Mountains. They weren't sure how well the pictures would come out because the clouds were pretty low on some of the high peeks. The elevation was over 10,500 feet. Mom and dad didn't stay outside to long because they were cold and the wind was very strong. When they got back inside of the Minnie we headed down the mountain. When we got to where the road Ys we saw a coyote walking in the road. When he saw us he went into a picnic area looking of something to eat. Mom took a couple of pictures of him. Afterwards we drove down to Bear Lake road. The road was 5 miles long.  When we got to the parking lot of Bear Lake hiking trail we saw a family of 4 getting ready for a hike. Mom and dad said they probably wouldn't hike too far because it was too cold. We turned around and headed towards the entrance. When we got to Moraine Park we saw another herd of elk. Dad had to stop to wait for them to cross the road to get to a stream. It took a few minutes because they weren't in any hurry. After they cross the road dad followed them in the picnic area. Dad parked the Minnie. Mom and dad got out to take pictures of the elk. Mom took pictures of them and my parents watched them for awhile. When the herd was getting too close to my parent decided they should get back into the Minnie. The herd walked right by the Minnie and mom took more pictures. This was cool to see. After mom finished taking pictures we finished our adventure to Rocky Mountain National Park.

After we left Rocky Mountain National Park we drove to Loveland. It was 11:00 so mom and dad decided to stop at McDonalds for lunch. While they were at McDonalds dad checked his e-mail and mom updated my website. When they were finished they came back to me. Dad tried to get a hold of his friends in Frederick but got so he decided to take a chance and just swing by their house. Frederick is about 60 miles from Loveland. When we got to his friends house we were in luck they were just getting home from a trip. Mom and dad went inside for a couple of hours and visit with them. They left me in the Minnie I didn't mind because I could sleep on mom's chair. They hadn't seen their friends in over 10 years. They had a great time visiting. When they finished their visit we decided we were going to stay close by because the wind was very strong. It was 4:30 when we left Frederick mom and dad decided to stop at Del Taco for dinner. Before they went inside to eat mom gave me some water and fed me my dinner. After everyone finished their dinner we decided to call it a night. We were going to stay at a state park but dad decided to stay at Walmart. The closest Walmart was 14 miles away in Longmont. When we got to Walmart we looked around to see if we could stay there. We didn't see any signs so we decided to stay. After dad parked the Minnie my parents took me for a walk around the parking lot. When we got back we called it a night.

Wednesday May 5, 2010

We woke up about 5:30. Dad wanted to get an early start because we have to drive through Denver. Dad wasn't sure how long it would take to get through Denver because of the traffic. I was glad mom and dad woke up early because I like the early morning. Mom and dad got dressed and mom fed me. After mom and dad finished their breakfast dad took me for a walk so mom could finish getting the Minnie ready for our adventure to Trinidad Lake State Park. Trinidad Lake State Park is about 175 miles away from Longmont. When dad and I got back mom was ready to get on the road. We left Walmart about 6:00. There was a lot of traffic but it wasn't as bad as dad thought it would be. On the way to Trinidad we saw pronghorns on the side of the road. When we got to Colorado Springs by the Air Forces Academy we saw a few little planes taking off from the airport. We also saw a couple of parachutists. The planes and parachutists were to far away to take pictures of but mom did try. After we left Colorado Springs the highway was very slow because there was a car wreck. We were going slow for a long time but once we got passed the wreck it was smooth sailing. We arrived at Trinidad about 11:00. When got to Trinidad we had to take a detour because of road construction. Dad was glad once we got to Trinidad Lake State Park.

Trinidad Lake State Park is new beautiful park located on a Corp of Engineer lake. The park has boating, camping, fishing, picnicking, mountain biking, hiking, wildlife viewing and nature study. The species caught in Trinity Lake are rainbow trout, brown trout, largemouth bass, channel catfish, walleye, saugeye, crappie, yellow perch and wipers. There are 6 trails at Trinidad Lake. The trails are: 1) Carpios Cove .5 mile, 2) Carpios Ridge .5 mile, 3) Levsa Self-guided Nature Trail 1 mile, 4) Reilly Canyon 4 miles, 5) South Shore 2.5 miles and 6) Long's Canyon .75 mile. Trinidad Lake has 2 campgrounds for RVs, trailers or tents. There are 73 sites available on first-come first-serve basis or by reservation. Carpios Ridge campground has 63 sites with 50-amp electrical service, centrally located water hydrants, showers, flush toilets, a coin operated laundry and 6 miles of hiking trails. The South Shore campground has 10 basic sites ( no electricity, water or hookups) and vault toilets. There is a dump station located at Carpios Ridge campground. The South Shore campers can use the camper services in Carpios Ridge if they want to.

When we got to Trinidad Lake State Park dad checked in and then we setup camp. After we finished setting up we walked around the campground to get familiar with it. When we returned to the Minnie mom made lunch. She made sandwiches for dad and her. She gave me a snack. We stayed inside because it was too windy to walk around. While we were inside we all took a nap. After our naps we walked around a little bit and then went back inside. Dad started reading, mom worked on her Sudokui book and I slept.

When dinnertime came around mom made some bowties noodles and sauce for dad and her for dinner. She fed me my food. After dinner we went on a hike. Mom decided she wanted to wash some clothes. While the clothes were washing we decided to hike the Levsa Nature Trail. It was very nice trail. It went up a hill and along a ridge. When we hiked on the ridge we stopped a few times and look at the lake. Mom took pictures of it. When we got back to the laundry area the clothes were finished washing so mom put them in the dryer. Dad and I waited for her outside. When she finished we went back to the Minnie. Mom baked chocolate cookies for dessert. When an hour was up mom went back to get the laundry. When she got back we called it a night.

Thursday May 6, 2010

Today we woke up at 6:45. I let mom and dad sleep in. Mom and dad got out of bed and got dressed. After they got dressed mom fed me my breakfast. Then she sat down with dad to have breakfast. We decided to stay at Trinidad Lake State Park another day because it was going to be windy and dad doesn't like to drive the Minnie in the wind. After breakfast mom took me for a walk around the campground. When we got back dad decided to wash the Minnie so mom and I kept dad company. I just laid on the picnic table and mom helped him. After mom and dad finished washing the Minnie we went inside. We didn't do anything the rest of the day. Dad read his book, mom worked on her Sudokui book and I slept. Mom occasionally took me out for a little walk. Mom and dad walked down to the entrance to pay for another night. They left me in the Minnie because they knew I would walk too slow. While they were going down to the office mom decided she would wash a load of clothes. After they finished paying for another night they came back. Mom went back to the laundry area to finish up the load. It was very nice not too do anything. Dad was tired of driving anyways. Mom cooked pizza for lunch and tostadas for dinner. Mom baked chocolate cookies for dessert.

Friday May 7, 2010

We woke up at 6:15. Mom didn't want to get out of bed because it was too cold for her. Dad and I thought she was being a wimp. Dad got dressed and then let me out from behind a gate in the kitchen where I sleep. Dad put on the heater for mom. Ten minutes later mom finally climbed out of bed. She got dressed and then fed me my breakfast. Afterwards she sat down with dad to have breakfast. After everyone finished their breakfast we went for walk around the campground. When we returned to the Minnie we got it ready to leave. Today we're going to New Mexico. Dad's planning to stop at Sugarite Canyon State Park which located in Raton, New Mexico about 30 miles from Trinidad, Colorado. Before we left Trinidad we stopped at Safeway to get gas and Walmart to do a little shopping. After mom and dad finished shopping we headed towards New Mexico.

When we arrived at Sugarite Canyon State Park it was full so we decided to go to Coyote Creek State Park. Coyote Creek State Park is about 90 miles from Sugarite Canyon State Park close to Angel Fire Ski Resort. We weren't in any hurry so we drove through Sugarite Canyon State Park. It's a beautiful park. It has a couple of camping areas and a few day areas. There are a couple of lakes there. Lake Maloya is the biggest lake and prohibits all gasoline powered vessels. There is a lot of things to do there like fishing, hiking, biking and playing in a playground. Mom took a few pictures of Sugarite Canyon State Park as we drove through it. After we finished looking at Sugarite Canyon State Park we headed to Coyote Creek State Park.

As we were driving we saw antelopes. The scenery was gorgeous because of the mountain. As we were driving down the road there were signs that told us to look for elk. We saw a herd of elk by a creek a few miles from Eagle Pass. We drive through Eagle Nest and saw a big lake there. While driving through Eagle Nest you can see the mountain range and snow trails at Angel Fire Ski Resort. Mom and dad have been to Angel Fire to ski before so they knew where it was. When we got the Angel Fire we had to drive through the town and down a curving road. Some of the curves were very sharp so dad had to slow down. While driving down the road we saw some ranches and cattle. We missed the road to turn on to get to Coyote Creek State Park because there weren't any signs. Dad read the map before we left Trinidad so he knew he was going the wrong way. Dad turned around in a rancher's drive. Dad was grateful he had a small RV because the road was narrow. We arrived at Coyote Creek State Park about 12:00.

Coyote Creek State Park is a very pretty park. We had no problem finding a site because no one was there. Mom and dad set up camp for a couple of nights. Then we paid for one night just in case we decided to move on. Coyote Creek was a restroom with showers, a few vaulted toilets, there are 12 electrical sites and tent sites. Activities that are available at Coyote Creek State Park are a hiking trail, fishing, biking and a playground. There is a grassy area where you can play in but be care there are some holes made by the wildlife in the area. After we paid for the night we went back to the Minnie and had lunch.

After lunch we went on a hike. We hiked the hiking trail. The trail is a short trail that goes around the campground. We walked to a bridge to get to the other side of the creek where the trail begins. The trail goes up a hill along a ridge. It's a beautiful trail it goes through trees. The trail itself was nice to hike because you walk on pine needles. Mom and dad had to be careful because sometimes the needles could be slippery. I liked the needles because they made my feet feel good. The trail is very well marked. As we were hiking I did some exploring. Mom and dad went one way on the trail and I decided to do my own trail so I climbed up some rocks. When I finally finished climbing the rocks I decided my way wasn't the easiest way the next time I would go the way mom and dad went. As we continued our hike dad saw a man made chair in a rock. It was made of logs. It was so cool dad had to take a picture of mom sitting in it. Mom and dad rested at the chair for a little while and then we continued our hike. When we got to the top of the hill the view was beautiful you could see the whole campground and the mountains around the campground. We stood there for awhile just looking at the view. We weren't on top of the hill before we started down. The trail ended up coming down at the tent area. We walked around the tent area. As we walked around the tent area walked along the creek. When we got to the playground dad took a picture of mom on the playscape. The playground was made of recycling items. It was made from 8,184 plastic containers, 16,327 aluminum cans and 13,797 soup cans. That was so neat. Just imagine all the cokes and soups you had to eat and drink to make it. When we got back to our campground we walked to the bridge so I could put my feet in the creek. It felt so good I really wanted to go swimming but dad had me on a leash and didn't want me to get too wet. When we got back to our campsite mom and dad put our chairs out so we could rest in them. After mom and dad rested dad barbecued chicken for me. Dad had a hard time keeping the grill going because the wind came up. As dad was barbecuing the park host came over and introduced herself. After she left we went inside until dinnertime.

When dinnertime came around dad barbecued some pork for him and mom. The wind was stronger so it took a lot longer. Dad was determined to barbecue the pork. When the pork was finished mom and dad had wraps and mom fed me my food. I was glad that dad barbecued chicken and pork because that means that I will get bones. I have a choose chicken or pork bones boy am I a lucky dog. After dinner we went for a walk around the park. We saw people fishing and just enjoying the park. When we got back we called it a night. Mom did bake cookies.

Saturday May 8, 2010

We woke up at 6:15 mom was being a wimp again so she stayed in bed an extra 15 minutes. She finally climbed out of bed to join dad and me. Last night mom didn't put up the gate because she thought I was too tired to move for her so she decided I was ok. I stayed in my bed all night and didn't go on mom's chair. By the time she got out of bed dad was already dressed so she got dressed. She fed me my breakfast and then sat down and had breakfast with dad. After breakfast we went on another hike. Before we went on our hike I met our neighbors. While we were sleeping last night people came in. Our neighbors had a chocolate lab. She barked for me. So mom and dad took me over to meet her. Her masters were very excited that there was a dog next door and I was a lab. So we got to know each other while mom and dad visit with her dad. After I finished visiting we went on our hike. We did the same trail as we did yesterday but we started at the tent sites first and climbed the hill the opposite direction. Mom thought this was easier. When we got back to the campsite we sat in our chairs. The wind came up and was very cold so we went inside. We were inside for a couple of hours when mom and dad decided to go pay for another night and I was a sleep so they left me in the Minnie. They didn't get too far when a lady came by with her dog and wanted to meet me. Dad said that I was sleeping. The dog started to bark so I woke up. He was barking because he didn't get along with men because he had a bad experience in his pass. The lady had only had him for three months and he was a rescued dog. She saw that I was awake so mom came back and got me. I was happy that mom did because I can meet another dog. He was part lab so we got along very well. She asked mom and dad if it was ok for her dog and I to play in the grass and mom and dad sure why not. As we were playing in the grass the next door neighbors had come back from fishing and their dog wanted to play. So they took her off leash to join us. All three of us had a great time playing while mom and dad visit with the lady. We played for awhile until our parents got too cold and wanted to go inside to get warm. Mom and dad went to the restroom. While we were there a ranger showed up and asked mom and dad if they had shown up for the coyote program. Dad said he didn't know about it. Dad talked to the ranger for a little while. Mom and dad didn't go to the coyote program because it was too cold. After the coyote program there was another program about beavers. Mom didn't go to that either because she thought it was too cold. When we got back to the Minnie we went inside. When lunchtime came around mom made pork wraps for dad and her. She gave me a chicken bone.

We stayed inside most of the day because it was too cold to sit outside. Dad read another book. Mom worked on my website and her Sudokui book. Mom and dad did take me for a walk around the park occasionally. After dinner mom and dad took me a walk around the park we saw the Fish and Game Warren checking to see if the people that were fishing had a license. There were a lot of people fish today. When we going to the creek by the bridge so I could get my feet wet our neighbors were outside so we stopped by to visit. The chocolate lab wouldn't let us go by with out a visit. The lab's name was Kahlua. We checked each other out and did some grazing while mom and dad visit with her mom. While mom and dad were visiting Kahlua's mom got dress to go fly fishing. After she finished get dress mom and dad took me to the creek. I was tired so I didn't stay in the water long and also Kahlua was barking for us. When we got back to the Minnie Kahlua calmed down and we put our chairs and grill away. Then we went inside for the rest of the night. While we were inside mom baked cookies for dessert. I'll say good night because I'm very tired and I need to get some sleep because we are moving to another campground tomorrow.

Rafting on the Rio Grande River for Mother's Day         Dad and Flo relaxing at Taos Junction Campground

DATE:  05/09/2010    SPACE:  3E   TRIP:  58    DISTANCE:  75 miles

Sunday May 9, 2010

Happy Mother's Day!!! It's Mother's Day so I let mom sleep in. We slept to 6:45. Mom and dad got dressed and mom fed me my breakfast. After mom and dad finished their breakfast they took me for a little walk around campground. When we returned to the Minnie mom and dad broke camp so we could continue our adventure. Today we're going towards Taos New Mexico. Taos is 60 miles from Coyote Creek State Park. The drive to Taos was a beautiful drive we drove through a mountain range. Dad stopped on a pull over so we could stretch our legs. I stayed in the Minnie because I was tired. Mom took pictures of the mountain. While she was taking pictures a man stopped at the same area and told her that a little farther down the road she could get a better picture of the mountains because there would be no trees in the way. Mom thanked him. We continued down the road. We arrived in Taos about 10:00 and stopped by the visitor center so dad could get information on the BLM parks in New Mexico. After dad got the information we stopped at a McDonald's so he could check out the information on the web. While mom and dad we in McDonald's dad checked his e-mail and mom updated my website. After they finished they came back to the Minnie. Then we went across the street to Smith's to get gas and buy a loaf of bread.

After we left Taos we drove 15 miles to Rio Grande Gorge Recreation Area. The highway we took was very nice. The road ran along a  gorgeous canyon. The Rio Grande River runs through the canyon. Along the road there were campgrounds. The campground we decided to stay at was at the top of the road called Taos Junction Campground. Mom and dad likes to hike and this was the only campground that had hiking close by. Taos Junction only had 4 sites and a group site. In order to get to Taos Junction you have to drive over a bridge that went over the Rio Grande River. After you cross the bridge the road turns to dirt but the campground is right there so dad turned into the campground. We didn't have any problems finding a site. Only one of the sites was occupied so we took the site right next to it. Mom and dad set up camp. After we were settled in mom made lunch. She made sandwiches for dad and her and then she gave me a little chicken for a snack.

After lunch we setup our chairs and sat in them. Mom and dad setup the chairs to look at the river. As we were sitting in our chairs we saw people rafting down the river. Mom took pictures of the rafters and we waved at the people in the raft. They waved back. I thought this was so cool. Where the campground is located there is an area where you can put rafts in at. We watched people launching their rafts for awhile. Than mom and dad decided to take me for a walk to the bridge. When we were walking over the bridge there was a family getting ready to go rafting down the river. Mom took pictures of them. It was a family of four, two little girls and their parents. We were at the launching area so mom and dad waved at them and told them to have fun. We watched them go down the river. This was too cool. After we could see them we walked to a sign that showed the trails that you can hike. Afterwards we went back to our site.

We sat in our chairs watching people go rafting down the river and the ducks swimming. Dinnertime came around so dad barbecued hamburgers for mom and him. Mom fed me my food. After dinner mom and dad decided to go for a walk. They left me in the Minnie because they knew I would walk too slow because there was a lot of gravel and rocks. I don't like walking on gravel and rock because it hurts my feet. Mom and dad walked down an old road that use to be the main road to get in the campgrounds. As they were walking the walked by the primitive camping area. The host there had a duck flying from his RV. They also met a young couple and asked how far the road went. The lady said it goes to a rock slide but if they wanted to they could walk through the rock slide and take it all the way to Taos. Mom and dad thanked the couple. They decided just to walk to the rock slide and turn around to head back. As they walked the road they walked through the canyon. The canyon was beautiful and the river that flowed below was the Rio Pueblo River. The Rio Pueblo and Rio Grande rivers join together by the bridge at Taos Junction Campground. On the way back to the Minnie mom and dad did a detour. They saw a stone pillar from the campground and they were curious so they decided to find out where it was. They found it and found out it was part of an old homestead. They told me it was cool just walking around the old homestead and imagining how it looked. While they were walking around the homestead there was a family at the bridge waving at them so they waved back. By the time they got back to the Minnie they had walked about 3 miles and I was very excited to see them. They were gone a little over an hour but it seemed like forever. Mom took me for a little walk and than we called it a night. Mom said she had a great Mother's Day.

Monday May 10, 2010

We woke up about 6:45. It was very comfortable sleeping last night because it wasn't cold. We were thankful for that because we didn't have any electricity at our site. Mom and dad got dressed and mom fed me. After everyone had breakfast mom and dad took me for a walk around the campground. After we returned to the Minnie mom and dad decided to go on a hike. They left me at home because they thought I wouldn't like the hike because they weren't sure how far they were going to hike and all the trails had a lot of rocks. That was ok with me because I could sleep. They were gone for 4 hours and hiked over 8 miles. They hiked the road they walked last night but this time they hiked over the rock slide and to the end of the road where the trailhead was. They loved hiking along the rim of the canyon because the scenery was so beautiful. They stopped occasionally to look at the Rio Pueblo River. When they got where the trails were suppose to be they couldn't find them. The trails weren't marked well but they finally saw a hiking trail sign. The trail went two way so they decided to go to the right because they knew the canyon was that way. They hiked up and down ravines and trails weaved back and forth around hills. There were times they weren't sure where they were. These times they stopped and looked for the trail. They hiked the Old 570 Trail, Rift Valley Trail, Los Coscojos Trail, La Gijosa Trail and Picuris Trail. The toughest trail they hiked was Picuris Trail. It was .8 miles but they had to hiked down a steep narrow trail. They had to hike over boulders and there was a lot of loose rocks on the trail. When they were hiking this trail they had to be very careful because they were tired and the trail was very difficult to hike. During their hike they didn't see any wildlife but they saw a lot of wildflowers. When mom and dad finally got home they were exhausted. What made them tired was they had to fight the wind and also they hiked over 8 miles. When mom got back to the Minnie she said, I don't need the WII Fit because I did my Aerobics and Balance Routines. The wind was so strong that they had to fight to keep their balance. I was very excited to see them. When ever mom and dad leave me it seems like they have been gone a long time.

After mom and dad rested a little mom made sandwiches for them and gave me a snack. After lunch we stayed inside because it was so windy. We were going to stay at Taos Junction another night but we decided to go down the road because the wind was so strong. Dad thought maybe we would be protected from the wind more if we went down the road. We drove to the other campgrounds and decided the best protection we would have was at Petaca. Petaca Campground in only three miles from Taos Junction Campground. We setup camp for the night. Afterwards we walked around the campground. While we were walking around we met the other campers. We saw a family camping here that were up where we were and they decided it was too windy up there so they came down here. This family had two dogs so we all said hi to each other. After we finished visited with the neighbors we went back to our chairs to enjoy the rest of the day. As we were sitting in our chairs we saw a little C show up at the campsite across the road. Dad said I think that is the lady with the black dog we had met at Coyote Creek State Park. So we went across the road to see if it was and it was. The black dog's name is Duffy. So Duffy and I checked each other out as our parents visit. We were visiting for over an hour when mom and dad decided to go back to the Minnie because it was close to dinnertime. Mom and dad had tacos for dinner and I had my food. After dinner we sat outside for a little while and then called it a night.

Tuesday May 11, 2010

We woke up about 6:00. Mom and dad got dressed. Mom fed me my breakfast and then she sat down with dad to have breakfast. After breakfast mom took me for a short walk around the campground. When we got back mom and dad broke camp. Today we are moving on to another campground. We left Petaca Campground about 7:00. As we were driving from the campground we saw Duffy and his dad walking along the road. So dad decided to drive by them and say good-bye. After we said our good-byes dad continued driving down the road. Mom and dad decided we were going to Bandelier National Monument because Duffy's parents talked about it. Bandelier National Monument has cliff dwellings like Mesa Verde National Park has. It took us awhile to get to Bandelier National Monument because our GPS didn't have it listed in its database but dad looked at a map before we left to see where it was located. We drove to Espanola to get to highway 30 but there wasn't a sign for highway 30. Mom was reading the map because our GPS wasn't any help. After we drove a few miles outside of Espanola dad pulled on the side of road to read the map and find highway 30 on the GPS. He found it on the GPS and plugged it in the GPS. Now we were on our way to Bandelier National Monument. We arrived at Bandelier National Monument about 9:00. The man at the entrance asked if we were going to camp or just visit the monument. Dad said we weren't sure. The man told dad that there was over 70 miles of hiking trail. This made mom and dad excited. The man gave them a map of the grounds. After we left the gate mom and dad decided we would stay here for a couple of nights because of the hiking trails. We went to visitor center. We had to park in an old campground because we had an RV. It was a beautiful campground because of all the growth. Mom and dad left me in the Minnie while they went to the visitor center because I'm not allowed to be on any of the hiking trails in National Parks or National Monuments. That was ok with me because that way I can watch people coming and going at the same time protect the Minnie. The visitor center was being remodeled but it was still opened in another building. When mom and dad got to the visitor center they got a map of the monument trail.

Bandelier National Monument has cliff dwellings. The cliff dwellings were different than the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park but they believed they were built by the Pueblo Indians. They also believe that the cliff dwellings here weren't as old. The cliff dwellings are located along the Frijoles Canyon. There are two trails. One trail is a 1 1/4 miles and the other trail is an additional 1 mile. The roads and buildings at Bandelier National Monument were built by the CCC.

Mom and dad did both trails. The first trail went to get to the cliff dwellings and Long House. Mom and dad bought a map of the trails. So while they were doing the trail the stopped at 21 different areas and read about it. Tyuonyi (QU-weh-nee) contained four hundred rooms and housed 100 people. The Long House was big and had many rooms. Some rooms were for storing food, weaving, shelter for turkeys, sleeping, cooking and every day activities. Mom and dad had a great time walking through the Long House because they climbed ladders to get to some of the rooms. There were ladders to climb into the rooms. As they were walking the trail they learned a lot about the people that lived there. The second trail went to the Alcove House. The Alcove House was a Ceremonial Cave. Alcove House was a lot smaller but had ladders to climb. The ladders were very steep. As mom was climbing the ladders she counted the steps. One had 31 steps, one 26 steps, one had 18 steps and a couple other ones had 8. Once mom and dad climbed the ladders they were exhausted. They had to rest. So they sat on a rock to rest. After a couple of minutes mom got up and walked to a Ceremonial Room. There was a ladder that went inside of the room so mom climbed down the ladder to see what was inside. She thought it was cool but dad wasn't interested in climbing any more ladders. But he had to climb down the ladders they climbed to get to the Alcove House. There was a sign in front of the Ceremonial Room explaining what it was and what was found there when the Alcove House was discovered. After walking around the cliff Dwelling mom and dad walked back to the Minnie. The trail between the Long House and the Alcove House was beautiful. It had a lot of trees and a creek that ran along side it.

When mom and dad got back to the Minnie I was very excited to see them. Mom and dad rested a little while and then they went back to the visitor center to buy some post cards. When they got back to the Minnie mom took me for a walk around the parking lot. There was a lot of people there. One man came up to me and said hi. He said he had a dog at home and had to say hi to me. I didn't mind at all. After my walk we went to the campground. We found a campsite and then set up for a couple of days. After we finished setting up camp mom made lunch. She made sandwiches for dad and her and gave me a snack. After we finished lunch we went for a walk around the campground and pay for the night. When we got back we sat in our chairs and relaxed. We sat in our chairs for a little while. As we were sitting in our chairs the wind came up so we went inside.

When dinnertime came around dad wanted to barbecue hot dogs but the wind was so strong mom had to make something inside. Mom made bow ties and sauce for them. After she cooked dinner for dad and her she fed me my food. After dinner we went for a walk around the campground. We walked all three loops. As we were walking we met the campground host. Mom and dad visited with the hosts for a little while. After their visit we finished our walk. When we got back we sat on our chairs again. As we were sitting on our chairs we saw people walking around and walking their dogs. Our neighbors were walking so they came over and said hi to me. As they were saying hi to me mom and dad visit with them. After they left we continued to sit in our chairs. When ever I saw a dog I would bark because I wanted to say hi but when I do bark sometimes I scare them. It was about 8:00 when we decided to go in for the night.

Wednesday May 12, 2010

We woke up about 6:45. I was tired so I let mom and dad sleep in. Mom made dad get up first so as he was getting dressed he opened the blinds and saw a coyote. The coyote was walking in the campground looking for food. Mom was still in bed so she didn't see it but dad did take a picture of him. Mom finally got up. When she finished getting dressed she fed me my breakfast and sat down with day to have breakfast. After breakfast mom and dad took me for walk around the campground. When we got back to the Minnie mom and dad put me inside because they were going on a hike. The hike was 2 miles round trip so I knew they weren't going too far. I still wanted to go but mom and dad said I wasn't allowed because we were in a National Monument. The hike they did was the Tyuonyi Overlook Trail. The trailhead was at the amphitheater. The trail was out in the open so mom and dad wanted to get an early start so they started about 8:00. As they hiked the trail they hiked the rim of the canyon. When they got to the rim the scenery was gorgeous. They saw the Tyuonyi below. They thought this was great because you really could see how it was laid out and you can imagine living there. After they rested a little while they came back to the Minnie. They were back about 9:15 and I was excited to see them. Dad set up the chairs. We sat on the chairs so mom and dad could rest. Mom and dad rested for about an hour and than took me for another walk. We walked down to pay for another night but couldn't because we didn't have our receipt from the day before. Here at Bandelier National Monument you pay electronically and the machine said it was occupied. In order to extend our stay here we needed the receipt number. So we had to go back to the Minnie. When we got back mom and dad decided to leave me there because they were going on another hike. This time they were going to hike the Frey Trail. The Frey Trail is 2 miles long one way. The trail goes to the visitor center. Mom and dad looked at the map yesterday and decided they were only going to hike part of it. The part they didn't hike was the part that went to the cliff dwelling which was .6 miles but it went down 500 feet. The problem wasn't climbing down but was climbing back once you went down. They already had seen the cliff dwelling yesterday so there wasn't a need to see them again. Mom and dad hiked 2 1/2 miles round trip. The scenery was the same as the first hike. The hike was very easy and they saw a lot of shrubs and trees. When they got to a sign that said .6 mile to the dwelling they decided to rest on a log before turn around and heading back. As they were resting they met a group for people hiking. They had climbed the trail from the cliff dwellings and were going to do a four hour hike. When they got to where mom and dad were they decided to rest before continuing. They weren't too sure way to go from there. They had a map but it wasn't too good so dad showed them the map of the park. He explained to them where they were and how to get to the other trail. He told them to get to the other trail they had to go to the campground where we were staying. The group decided they would follow mom and dad to the campground. When everyone got to the campground dad showed them where the trail began because it was the trail mom and dad did earlier. The group was happy the bumped into mom and dad because that way they could rest and use the restroom before continuing. Mom and dad said good-bye and came back to me. Once again I was happy to see them. When they got back this time it was almost lunchtime.

We sat in our chair until lunchtime. The wind was down so dad barbecued hot dogs and mom gave me a snack. After lunch we sat around the campground in our chairs. We watched people driving around and setting up camp. Mom and dad went inside for an hour to nap while I stayed outside sunning. It was too pretty to go inside. When they came back outside I was so dirty they weren't sure what color I really was. When dinnertime came around. Mom heated up some leftover taco meat so mom and dad had tacos. But before mom let me inside she wiped some of the dirt off me. Than she fed me my dinner. When I finished my dinner mom took me next store because dad was over there visiting. The neighbors didn't care because they liked me. After we finished visiting mom and dad went inside to eat their dinner. They left me outside. After they finished eating they came outside. We sat in our chair for a little while. As we were sitting in our chairs we got neighbors on the other side of us. They set up camp and than went for a walk. As they were walking back mom and dad decided to take me for a walk. Before we left for the walk dad wipe me down to get a lot of the dirt off me. As we were walking towards our neighbors I was excited because they had a dog. When we all met it was very nice because I met their dog and my parents visit with them. As we were visiting we saw three more dogs and their masters but they went a different way so we didn't met them. After our visit was over mom and dad finished our walk around the three loops of the campground. When we got back mom and dad bagged the chairs and than we went inside for the night. Mom baked cookies when we went inside.

Thursday May 13, 2010

Mom woke dad up about 6:15 so he could see the coyote he saw yesterday. Dad got out of bed and looked for the coyote but he couldn't find him. Mom and dad figured it was because there were too many people. Mom and dad got dressed and then mom fed me my breakfast. Afterwards she sat down with dad and had breakfast. After everyone ate breakfast mom and dad got the Minnie ready to go. Then mom and dad took me for a walk around the campground. As we were walking we saw the camp host. He stopped and visit with us for a little while. He was alone his wife was back at the trailer. After he left we continued our walk. During our walks around the campground we see cottontails. The cottontails must be use to people and dogs because they let us get real close. Even when we get real close they don't hop too far away. When we got back to the Minnie left Bandelier National Monument. We had a great time here and met a lot of people and dogs. Now we moving on to another adventure.

We're going to Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area in Chimayo New Mexico. But before we do this we're going to drive through Los Alamos. Mom and dad have never been to Los Alamos. Los Alamos is only about 14 miles from Bandelier. We drove through a beautiful canyon on the way to Los Alamos. When we got to Los Alamos we had to stop at a gate and the guard asked if he could look inside the Minnie. Dad said of course he said he didn't have to go inside he just needed to look inside. It didn't take but a few seconds and then he told us we could go on through. As we drove through Los Alamos we thought it was a very beautiful city. There was a lot of bike lanes through town. Along the canyon there is a trail. We saw people riding bikes, jogging and walking. Los Alamos is where the government Nuclear Research Labs are. It didn't take too long to drive through Los Alamos. After we left Los Alamos we went back to Espanola. Mom and dad had to do laundry, get propane for the Minnie and go grocery shopping. Mom and dad did all their earns within a couple of blocks from each other. They first stopped at Walmart to do the grocery shopping. Then we went just down the road and found a place to do laundry. As mom was doing laundry dad went and got propane. After the laundry was finished it was 11:30 so mom and dad decided they would go to lunch at Taco Bell which was in the same shopping center that Walmart was in. Before they ate lunch they stopped and got fuel for the Minnie. After mom and dad ate lunch we went to Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area.

Santa Cruz Lake is in the middle of no where not too many people know about it not even the local people. The road to get to Santa Cruz Lake is very curvy and the curves are very tight. Once we got to Santa Cruz Lake dad checked in with the host. There are 11 sites and no one was there so we didn't have a problem finding a site. When we found a site mom and dad setup camp for the night. Afterwards we walked around the campground. Santa Cruz Lake is a small mountain lake but it's very beautiful. There is a day area where you can picnic and fish off a dock. There is a small hiking trail that goes 1 1/4 miles to a ridge where you can see Espanola and the mountain range. We walked about 1/4 mile of the trail. As we walked the trail we could see the whole lake. We saw people fishing off the docks. The boat ramp is very nice. It has two lanes and a dock for people to load in and out of their boats. When we got back to the day area we decided to walk to the front entrance to pay for the night. There was a man at the gate to take our money. The man had been working for BLM for 18 years and here at Santa Cruz Lake. Mom and dad visit with the man for awhile. He told them that he usually have about 120,000 people a year visiting Santa Cruz Lake but last year he only had 80,000. Dad was surprised that many people visit Santa Cruz Lake because it's not on the New Mexico map and everyone we talked to about it never heard of it. After mom and dad finished visiting we decided to walk to the dam. It wasn't too far. As we were walking to the dam we saw a few people putting in their boat to go fishing. Mom took pictures of lake as we were walking. Once we got to the dam we turned around and went back to our site. The wind was coming up a little so mom and dad went inside. I didn't want to go inside so mom and dad let me stay outside. Mom took a nap and dad read a paper. They were inside for about an hour when I decided to join them inside.

As we were sitting inside another vehicle showed up. There were two guys in the vehicle and dad watched them set up camp while mom was fixed dinner. Mom fixed some Au Gratin potatoes for dinner. While the potatoes were cooking mom fed me and fixed ham sandwiches for dad and her. After dinner was over mom and dad decided to take me for another walk around the campground. This time we walked to the day area and the same part of the trail we did earlier. This time we saw a few boats on the lake and a few people fishing on the dock. It was a very relaxing hike. When we got back to the campsite we sat outside until it started to get a little cold and than we went inside for the night. While we were inside one of the guys came over and wanted to see if we had a fishing reel because he forgot his at home. Dad told him that we weren't fishermen so we didn't have one. He was very nice he invited mom and dad over to have stew with them. Dad thanked him. When the guy left we decided to turn in for the night. Good night.

DATE:  05/14/2010 - 05/15/2010    SPACE:  25   TRIP:  58    DISTANCE:  230 miles

Friday May 14, 2010

Mom woke dad and me up at 6:00. I guess she was excited about going to Elephant Butte Lake State Park. It's about 230 miles from Santa Cruz Lake State Park. It's a very popular park. We hope to get a campsite for the weekend but if we don't get one there are a couple more state parks within 20 miles of Elephant Butte. Mom got out of bed before dad did today. She got dressed and then fed me my breakfast. As I was eating dad got up and got dressed. After everyone was finished getting dressed mom and dad sat down and had breakfast. After breakfast mom and dad took me for a walk around the campground. We walked to the lake and back. It was a quiet walk because no one was there because it was too early. The two campers were still sleeping. When we got back to the Minnie mom and dad broke camp. As we were leaving the two guys camped next to us were starting to get move around.

We drove until we got to Socorro, New Mexico. The drive to Socorro was very nice. We drove through a little mountain town. The road was very narrow and curvy. We also went through mountain ranges. When we got to Socorro we stopped at McDonald's so dad could read his e-mail and get the weather report. While mom and dad were in the McDonald's mom updated my website. As they were doing their computer work they decided to have lunch. After they finished their lunch and their computer work they came back to me. I was excited to see them. Mom and dad took me for a little walk around the parking lot so I could stretch my legs. When we finished our walk dad went next store to get gas and then we left Socorro.

We got to Elephant Butte Lake State Park about 12:30. The computer system was down so the people at the gate didn't know what was available. They told us to go to Lions Beach loop to see anything was available. We drove around Lions Beach loop and there wasn't anything available so we went back to the entrance. The lady in the office gave dad a map and told him to try a couple more areas. The first area we tried was Lower Ridge Road. There were sites available but we didn't really like it there because you had share your site with another camper. So we decided to look at the other area which was Quail Run. There were only a few sites left at Quail Run. We found a site and liked it at Quail Run. We parked the Minnie and then setup camp for the weekend. After we setup camp mom and dad took me on a walk around the campground so they could pay for the night. Afterwards mom and dad took me back to the Minnie so they could go on a longer walk. That was ok with me. I can sleep while they walked. Mom and dad walked to the lake which was about a mile from our campsite. There were people camped out by the lake. The camping area by the lake was primitive camping just like Muleshoe Park. Mom and dad thought this was very nice. As they walked around they took pictures. They had to walk through sand, on a dirt road and part of the road was paved. By the time they got back they had been gone for about an hour. I was very happy to see them. After we said our hellos dad set up our chairs so we could just sit in them and enjoy the campground.

When dinnertime came around, once again it was too windy to barbecue so mom opened a can of chile for dad and her dinner. She fed me my dinner. After dinner we went for a walk around the campground. As we were walking dad met a man with a motor cycle. So he stopped to talk to him while mom was in the restroom. When she finished she took me from dad so he could continue talking with the man. Mom and I went back to our campsite and we sat in our chairs. After awhile mom and I went back to where dad was and brought him back to our campsite. When we all returned we sat in our chairs for awhile longer. As we were sitting on our chairs we watched people setting up camp. We also saw a few people looking for a site. We felt sorry for the people driving around looking for a site. We were glad we came as early as we did. Thanks, mom for waking us early. About 8:30 we called it a night.

Saturday May 15, 2010

We woke up at 6:00. Dad got up and got dressed. He decided to let mom sleep in a little longer. While mom was still in bed dad took me for walk. We walked through the desert behind the campsite. This was cool because there was a lot of sand and it felt great on my feet. Dad saw a quail in a tree so he took the camera out to take a picture but the battery was dead. He changed the battery and as he was getting ready to take the picture the quail flew away. Dad was disappointed because he never had seen a quail in a tree. When we got back mom was waiting for us. When I saw mom I was very excited. Mom and I said our good mornings. When we went inside mom fed me my breakfast. Then she sat down with dad to have breakfast with him. After breakfast mom and dad decided to go on a hike. They left me in the Minnie because they knew I would get too tired. The walked the hiking trail to the main entrance. It was a nature trail that was 1 1/4 mile long. As they were walking the trail the man dad met the night before was doing the trail too. So they all said hi. When mom and dad got back to the entrance they walked to the marina. At the marina there is a 11 lane boat ramp. Dad took pictures of the ramp. Mom and dad were surprise because it was 11 lanes. It was 7:30 in the morning and it was busy. Mom and dad saw a lot of people on the lake. They were very surprise to see all the people because it was still cool outside and the water was cold. Most of the people they saw were going fishing. They watch people putting their boats in and taking them out. On the other side of the marina they saw some people camping on the lake. After awhile mom and dad decided to walk back to the Minnie. As they were leaving the marina they saw a hoist that helps you put your mask on your sailboat. Dad thought this was great because he never seen this before and also because if you have a big sailboat you couldn't put the mask on without help. When mom and dad finally got home I was glad to see them. After we said our hellos dad sat in his chair and mom took me on a walk. The walk mom and I went on was to the lake. Mom took me through the same area that dad and her walked yesterday. We walked through sand and down a dirt road. There were a lot of people camped out by the lake so mom took me where there wasn't a lot of people. We walked by a group of people that had a dog. I wanted to meet the dog but the dog would bark and than run and hide from me. I gave up and decided go to the lake to get my feet. After I wet my feet mom and I decided to go back to dad. As we were walking back I kept looking around and over my shoulder because I wasn't sure mom knew where she was going. Mom kept telling me that she knew where she was going. We were almost back when I saw a couple of dogs and wanted to meet them. Mom asked the masters if they were friendly. The man said that they were a little testy towards other dogs. So mom let them continue their walk while mom and I went back to the Minnie. When we got back I went to my chair. Mom told dad where we went and he said we were gone for awhile. I think he was a little worried about us. But he was happy we made it back. Mom sat in her chair for a little while and than went inside because she wasn't feeling well.

Mom laid down for about an hour. While she was resting the wind was down today so dad decided to barbecue sausages for lunch. Dad was finishing up barbecuing when mom woke up. I was so tired after my walk with mom I stayed outside while mom and dad ate lunch. After lunch dad came outside to read in his chair. Mom still wasn't feeling well so she stayed inside. Dad and I stayed outside all afternoon while mom slept. When mom finally woke up it was dinnertime. Mom fed me my food while dad barbecued again this time he barbecued pork steaks. Mom heated up potatoes from the other night. After we all ate we went outside to relax in our chairs. After dad finished his book we all went for a walk around the campground. When we got back to the Minnie we sat in our chairs and watched families playing. We had great time just sitting in our chairs and relaxing. About 8:00 we called in a night. When we went inside mom baked cookies.

Sunday May 16, 2010

Mom woke dad up about 6:15 so dad decided to get up. Dad got dressed and than took me for a walk. I was tired and I really didn't want to get up but mom asked if I wanted to go for a walk with dad. Of course I did so I got up and went for a walk. While dad and I went for a walk mom stayed in bed. Dad took me for a walk through the desert again but this time we went a little farther. When we got back mom was just getting up. Mom finished getting dressed and then she fed me my breakfast. Afterwards she sat down with dad and had breakfast. After everyone finished eating. Mom and dad decided to take me for a hike to Elephant Butte Inn. The hiking trail that is in the park went to the inn. It was a long hike we hiked 2 miles by the time we got back to the Minnie. Mom and dad decided to go to the inn because dad wanted a newspaper. The hiking trail was very nice because we hiked through sand and it felt good on my feet. The trail started at the restroom and went to the main entrance. When we got to the main entrance the trail Y off so we went to the right. While we were hiking we saw a lot of doves. When we got to the end of the trail we had to go through a gate. On the other side of the gate there was a paved path along the main road of the small town of Elephant Butte. We walked the path to the inn. Elephant Butte Inn is very nice looking inn. It is very well maintained. Dad went into the lobby to see if they had a newspaper. While he was doing that mom walked me around the front of the inn. We checked out the landscaping. I like this because there was a lot of different plants to smell. Dad wasn't gone long and when he returned he had a newspaper. We were going to walk around the town but there wasn't much to see so we started back to the campground. Instead of going back to the gate we decided to walk behind the inn because there was a trail map to get back to the campground. We found the hiking trail and started walking down the trail. As we were walking back to the campground we saw a bench so we decided to rest. While we were resting we saw a couple of parasails. They were different than the normal ones because you strap a little motor on your back to sail instead of a boat pulling you up. The parasails were flying around the Elephant Butte Lake and the campground. We watched them for awhile. After awhile we decided to continue our hike. The hike was very nice. When we got back to our campsite I was tired so I laid on the ground to relax. Mom and dad sat in their chairs. We didn't do much for the rest of the day. We walked around the campground a few times but most of the time we just sat in our chairs and relaxed. Mom worked on her Sudokui book. Dad was finished reading his books so he just watched people getting ready to leave and I just slept. After most of the people left it was very peaceful and relaxing. Dad barbecued bacon for lunch and mom barbecued pork for dinner. At lunchtime mom gave me a snack and a bone and for dinner mom fed me my food. We sat outside until about 8:30 when we decided to call it a night.

Mom and dad woke up about 6:45. Dad got out of bed and got dressed. Mom was still in bed and I didn't feel like getting up. Mom asked me if I wanted to go for a walk with dad. So I got up and went for a walk with dad. While dad and I went on a walk mom climbed out of bed and got dressed. When dad and I got back mom had gotten the Minnie ready to go. Mom fed me my breakfast and than sat down with dad to have breakfast. After breakfast dad started the Minnie and we left. We weren't in a hurry because we're just going down the road about 30 miles to Caballo Lake State Park. Before going to Caballo we stopped in Truth Or Consequences. Mom and dad needed a few things at the store. Truth Or Consequences is a very small city. We drove through it looking for a grocery store we found one. When mom and dad walked to the front door of the store a sign in the window said it went out of business forever. So mom and dad got back into the Minnie. We were getting ready to leave Truth Or Consequences when dad saw a Walmart sign. Mom and dad were very happy to see it so they stopped and went shopping. After they finished shopping we left Truth Or Consequences.

The drive to Caballo Lake State Park was a nice peaceful drive. We were real close to the park when we saw Caballo Lake. We arrived at Caballo Lake State Park about 9:30. The lady at the entrance just waved us in. Caballo Lake State Park was different than Elephant Butte State Park. The lake was a lot smaller but it was a beautiful lake. The campground roads and sites are gravel and not paved so there a lot more dust. The landscaping is different where there's a lot more shrubs and less trees. The hiking trail didn't have any sand it was mainly rock. Even though Caballo Lake State Park was different then Elephant Butte State Park it still was very nice park.

There were hardly anyone at Caballo Lake State Park so we didn't have any problem finding a site. After dad parked the Minnie in a site and was getting ready to setup camp a couple of men across the road started to talking to dad. They said that they were going to Texas and they saw we were from Texas. They were from Arizona. Dad and the men visit for awhile. Dad said we weren't going to be in Texas for another week or so. It depends on the weather. One of the man said that the rain in Texas was going away so they were leaving New Mexico to go to Texas. The men told dad that the park was having a water problem and they were trying to fix the problem. While dad was visiting mom setup camp. After dad finished visiting he plugged the Minnie into the electricity. When mom and dad finished setup camp we went on a walk. We walked down to the lake. When we got to the lake I went for a swim. The water felt so good. I didn't swim long but I had a great time getting wet because I was hot and dirty from all the dust. After my swim we walked on the boat dock. When we were leaving the dock I decided to go for another swim. When I finished my second swim we went to a picnic table so I could dry off a little before going back to the campsite. It was a beautiful day so we sat there just looking at the lake and the mountain range around it. After I dried off a little we went back to our site. When we got back dad turned on the air condition in the Minnie because it was 86 degree already at 10:00. It was hot outside but there was a cover over the picnic table so we put our chairs in the shade. When we did this it was very comfortable sitting outside. We stayed outside sitting in our chairs until lunchtime.

When lunchtime came around there wasn't a wind so dad barbecued some sausages for lunch. When dad finished barbecuing mom and dad went inside I was so tired I stayed in my chair sleeping while they ate their lunch. When they finished eating they came back outside and sat in their chairs. We sat in our chair all afternoon. While we were sitting in our chairs and man came over to asked mom and dad to keep an eye on his stuff while his buddy and him went fishing. Mom and dad said ok. We stayed outside until dinnertime.

When we went inside it was nice and cool inside. The wind had come up when we were outside and it was too strong for dad to barbecue again so mom heated up leftover. She heated up pork and bacon for wraps. She fed me my food. After dinner mom and dad decided to go for walk. They left me in the Minnie where it was nice and cool. I didn't care because I was tired. Mom and dad walked the hiking trail around the park. They walked about 2 miles. They saw jack rabbits, cottontails, doves and quails. They walked to some spots where they could see the lake. They saw some cactus with beautiful yellow flowers on it. The trail weaved around the park. It went to the main entrance, down to the lake and overviews of the lake. There were benches on the trail where you can sit and look at the lake. They had a great walk. When they got back I was waiting for them. Dad opened the door and I ran outside to see them. Mom and dad sat in their chairs for a little while and than they decided to take a shower. After they took their showers we stayed outside because it was a gorgeous night. We watch the sun go down. As the sun was going down the mountain ranges around the lake looked gorgeous because the sun was shining on it. As we were sitting outside the two men that we were watching their stuff for came over to visit. The men's names were Cecil and Larry. During their visit Larry paid a lot of attention to me. When Larry left for a few minutes Cecil started to pet me. We visit with Cecil and Larry for a couple of hours. I enjoyed the visit very much because I got a lot of attention. Mom and dad enjoyed the visit also because they like meeting new people. It was 9:30 when Cecil and Larry left. After they left we went inside and called it a night.

We woke up at 6:15. Dad got out of bed and got dressed. After dad got dressed he took me for a walk while mom got dressed. When dad and I returned from our walk mom fed me my breakfast. Than she sat down with dad and had breakfast. After breakfast we broke camp because we're move on down the road but before we left Cecil came over to say good-bye. Dad told him that we were going to take his suggestion and go to Lake Roberts for a couple of nights. We left Caballo State Park about 7:00. Lake Roberts is about 80 miles from Caballo State Park but we decided to drive up to Silver City. Silver City is 25 miles away from Lake Roberts. We have never been to Silver City so we decided to go look at it. We had to drive up a mountain range. The road was very curving and tight. We drove over a couple of narrow bridges. The scenery was beautiful. As we were driving we saw a wild turkey and deer. We stopped at a couple of places along the way to Silver City. One place was a historic site. The historic site was a piece of the old highway. Mom and dad got out and looked at the gorgeous canyon. The other place was the observation point of the Santa Rita Copper Mine. Mom and dad got out of the Minnie to take pictures of the mine. At the observation point there were signs about the mine and the history of the mine. I stayed in the Minnie each time mom and dad stopped. That was ok with me then I could still sleep. When we got to Silver City we stopped at the forest office so dad could get information about the camping and hiking around the area. After he got the information we stopped and got gas. Silver City is a very small city but very nice. After we drove around Silver City we continued on our adventure to Lake Roberts.

Lake Roberts is located in the Gila National Forest. It has 2 campgrounds the Upper Campground and Mesa Campground. We stayed in Mesa Campground. The Upper Campground was closed because they were working on the utilities there. In Mesa Campground you can get a site with electric and water for $15 or a site without electric and water for $10. We decided to get a site for $10 we didn't need any electric or water. The restrooms had running water. A lot of the campground in the National Forest don't running water or electric so this was great if you need electric and water. The restrooms are usually open-holers. Lake Roberts is beautiful lake. There is a hiking trail around the lake and on the other side of the road by the Upper Campground there is another trail called Purgatory Chasm.

We arrived at Lake Roberts about 10:30 and drove around to find a site. We didn't have a problem finding one. Once we found a site we parked the Minnie and setup camp. While we were setting up camp a couple from Florida came by and visit with mom and dad. After they left mom decided to make sandwiches for lunch because it was too windy to barbecue. After lunch mom and dad decided to go for a walk. They left me in the Minnie because they knew I was tired. They walked about 2 miles. They around the campground and around part of lake to the other campground. As they were walking around Upper Campground they met the camp hosts and visit with them for awhile. After visit they came back to me. We sat in our chairs for the rest of the afternoon. As we were sitting in our chairs a white and brown dog decided to come by and say hello. I was happy to see him so we played for a few minutes before his dad came over to take him back. After he left mom took me for a walk to pay for the night. As we were walking I met another dog his name was Tigger. His was a cute little brown dog. We played for awhile and than I continued my walk back to the site. When dinnertime came around mom made pancakes because the wind was still too strong to barbecue. After dinner we went outside and sat in our chairs. It was very relaxing just sitting in our chairs and enjoying the park. When it started to get dark we went inside and mom baked cookies.

Wednesday May 19, 2010

We woke up at 6:30. Dad got up and got dressed. Mom got up shortly after dad was dressed so she fed me before my walk. After she fed me she sat down with dad and had breakfast. After breakfast mom and dad decided to take me for a hike. The hike we did was around the lake. Before we went on the hike mom went to the bathroom and while she was gone I met a beagle, black and white dog named Trex and played with Tigger again. When mom came back to us we went on our hike. This hike was very easy and pretty. I met a couple who were going fishing. They said hi to us and pet me. Then they set up their chairs so they could go fishing. We continued our hike. As we hiked around the lake we saw a lot of ducks. The lake had a lot of Kory (gold fish) and tadpoles. When we got to the dam we had to climb down and up two sets of stairs. The first set was metal. I didn't want to climb down the stairs. I was trying my hardest to find another way down then the stairs. Dad had to pick me up and put me on the top of the stairs but I really didn't want to go down them. I was scared of them. Mom and dad coached me down the stairs. I climb down the stairs very slowly. Once I was down the stairs mom and dad said I did good. When we got to the other side of the dam to the second set of stairs I didn't have a problem with them. These stairs were made of cement. When we finished climbing the stairs there were two trails we had to take. One went along the bank and the other one went up a hill. We took the hill trail because the camp host told mom and dad last night it was the easiest. Because if we took the trail on the bank we would have to climb over big boulders. We stopped on a dock to rest and just enjoy the lake. Once we were back on our side of the lake we had hiked about 2 miles we stopped at the boat ramp. Mom and dad talked to a fisherman. After their visit we went back to our campsite. We sat in our chairs to rest for a little while.

After our rest we went on another hike. Our second hike was Purgatory Chasm Trail. The trailhead starts across the road from the Upper Campground. When we got there we saw a few forest workers and we all said hi. The trail starts after you walk through a gate. You have to be careful because it's open range so you may see cows. The trail was very nice because you hike on pine needles and dirt. I liked this a lot better than gravel. We weren't sure how long the trail was but we decided we would walk part of it. As we hiked the trail there was a canyon on both sides of it. We were looking around and enjoying the scenery when we saw a big herd of deer run up the canyon. Mom and dad saw them first and told me that there were deer on the hill. I looked around to see them and I finally saw a couple of them. They were hard to see because they blinded into the trees. We continued our hike when we came upon a trail sign. It said that the trail was a loop. We climbed up a hill, hiked through trees and some places we were out in the open. When we got to the top of the hill we rested. After our rest we continued our hike. The trail started to loop back when we came to a canyon. The trail went in the canyon. Once you were in the canyon the trail kind of disappeared because when it rains the creek flows on the bottom of the canyon so it was too hard to maintain. As we hiked through the canyon we climbed over boulders and through a little creek. A couple of places mom and dad had to keep me out of the water because it didn't look to good. Other places they let me drink the water because it was flowing and wasn't green. One place was great because I got wet to my chest and this felt so good. At the end of the canyon the trail climbed out of the canyon. Once we climbed out of the canyon we were finished with the loop. We hiked back to the trailhead. When we got to the road we walked across it and walked to the boat ramp. When we got to the boat ramp I met another dog. He was very friendly and he liked to swim. I was hot so I ran to the lake and he went with me. I swam while mom and dad visit with his mom and dad. After our parents finished their visit we headed back to the campsite and the other dog and his parents continued bird watching. When we got back to the Minnie we were exhausted so we went to our chairs to rest. We rested for a little bit and mom decided to make lunch.

For lunch mom made pork steaks. When the steaks were finished mom and dad went inside to eat. I stayed outside because I was too tired to move and I was sunning. After lunch mom and dad came back outside to rest in their chairs. While we were resting our neighbor came by with Trex and asked about our hiking adventure. Mom and dad told him about the trails. Afterwards he decided to take Trex for a walk to the lake. We sat in our chairs all afternoon. Dad was visiting with other neighbor and mom went to the restroom Trex came back from his walk and decided to chill out with me under our picnic table. When mom came back she thought that was cute because both of us were laying next to each other under the table. Trex's master came over to visit with mom. When Trex's dad went back to their site Trex stayed with mom and I until dad came back. When dad came back I decided to get in my chair so Trex went back to his site.

When dinnertime came around mom cooked some noodles and sauce for dinner. Mom fed me my food and than sat down with dad to have dinner. After dinner dad went over to Trex's site to visit with his dad. While dad was over there I decided to join them. A little while later mom came over. While mom and dad were visiting with Trex's dad Trex and I just chilled out together. When we were going back to our site we stopped and visit with the couple we saw at the lake this morning. After our visit we went to our site and put our chairs up and the grill because we're going to leave in the morning. Afterwards mom took me for a walk and I visit with Tigger. When mom and I got back mom, dad and I went inside. Mom baked cookies.

Thursday May 20, 2010

We woke up about 6:30. Dad got up and got dressed. Dad and I waited patiently for mom. Mom slowly got out of bed. It took mom and extra 15 minutes to get out of bed. Mom got dressed and then she fed me my breakfast. Afterwards mom sat down with dad to have breakfast. After breakfast mom and dad took me for a walk around the campground. When we got back to the Minnie mom and dad broke camp. Today we're slowly working our way back to Austin. We going to the City of Rocks State Park. We left Lake Roberts about 7:45 we didn't have too far to go.

As we were driving towards City of Rocks we saw deer running up the hills at a couple of places. We drove by a lot of ranchs. The scenery was a little boring because we only saw were a lot of desert scrubs and desert rolling hills. Occasionally we would see the mountains ranges at a distance. Mom and I napped a lot of the way to City of Rocks. We were about 8 miles from City of Rocks State Park when we turned on a road that took you there we were surprise that it was flat and there was nothing there. We were about 1/2 mile away from the entrance when we saw some rock formations and we figured that was the City of Rocks. We were right. When we got to City of Rocks State Park is was 9:00. Dad drove around the park it was very cool because if you didn't need any water or electricity you could camp in the rocks. We decided we needed electricity because it was starting to get hot. So dad drove to the entrance to see if there were any sites available with electricity. One of the workers told dad there were two. Dad drove back to the campground and found one of the sites which was 4. After we parked the Minnie mom and dad setup camp for the night. Afterwards we went for a little walk around the campground. As we were walking around we started to walk the Botanical Garden and decided not to because it was in the open and it was starting to get hot. So we decided to walk around the camping area in the rocks. This was very nice because the trail weaved in and out of different rock formations. We also had to walk over rocks. The rocks felt good on my feet because they were smooth. The road we had to take to get here was gravel and rough black top I didn't care much for the road because it hurt my feet. We walked about a half hour because it was getting hot. On the way back to the Minnie we stopped at the bathroom which was an open holer. When I got there I was hot and tired so I just laid on the concrete to relax. After mom and dad finished using the bathroom we went back to our site. We sat in our chairs and relaxed for the rest of the morning.

At lunchtime dad barbecued hamburger for mom and him. After the hamburger were finished they went inside and I was too tired to move so I stayed outside. After lunch mom and dad came back outside to their chairs. About 1:00 mom and dad went to the main entrance to take a shower and left me in the Minnie. While mom was taking a shower dad went into the visitor center and found a couple of books to read. When mom finished taking her shower she went to the visitor center to find dad. While they were there they visit with a park ranger and a volunteer. After their visit they came back to me. I was so excited to see them. Mom took me for a walk and then we came back to the site. We spent all afternoon in our chairs. Dad read a book, mom worked on her Sudokui and I slept. As we were in our chairs we saw a lot of jack rabbits and cottontails. It was a very relaxing afternoon.

At dinnertime the wind came up so mom heated up some leftover sausages for dad and her. She fed me my food. After dinner we went outside and relaxed in our chairs. Once the sun started down mom and dad decided they would go on a walk around the campground and the rocks. This time they left me at the Minnie because they knew I was tired and I would slow them down. They were gone about an hour. They had a great time walking around the campground on the rocks. There are 41 sites on the rocks. Some of the sites are very well hidden in the rocks. Mom and dad said that was great because it gets so hot in the summertime that way you could keep cool. They walked up and down the rocks. They walked through narrow passageways. I wish I was there but they were right I was tired. I hike very well in the morning but when afternoon comes around I get tired. I wish I didn't get so tired that way I could hike more with mom and dad but at least I do hike some. I like staying in the Minnie because that way I can sleep on mom's seat. Everytime mom and dad comes back to the Minnie I get so excited to see them. After we say our hellos they take me for a walk around the campground and today was no exception. After we got back to our site we sat in our chairs and just enjoyed the evening. While we were relaxing we saw rabbits. We went inside about 8:30. We had a great day at City of Rocks State Park.

Friday May 21, 2010

We woke up about 6:00. Mom and dad got up and got dressed. Mom fed me my breakfast and then sat down with dad to eat breakfast. After we finished our breakfast we went for a walk around the the campground before leaving City of Rocks State Park to go to Leasburg Dam State Park. When we got back mom and dad broke camp. We had a great time staying on Mars last night. We saw a lot of rabbits and the rock formations were great to explore. The campground's theme at City of Rocks State Park is the Solar System. Our site was Mars. We left City of Rocks State Park at 7:00. When we got to the front gate it was still locked. I guess the rabbits didn't want us to leave. We had to wait until 7:30. While we were waiting for the gate to open we walked around the entrance. Once the gate was open we were on our way to Leasburg Dam State Park. Before we got to Leasburg Dam we stopped in Deming at a McDonald's so dad could check his e-mail and mom could update my website. Mom and dad were in McDonald's for 2 hours. They were having problems getting on the Internet but once they were on the Internet it didn't take them too long. When they got back to the Minnie I was waiting and very excited to see them. We continued our adventure to Leasburg Dam State Park. We stopped at a rest area on the way. It had a cool looking roadrunner figure so mom took a picture of it. We arrived at Leasburg Dam State Park about 11:30. We drove around the campgrounds and decided to stay in Cactus Patch Loop because it had water and electricity. We wanted electricity because it was already hot. We found a site and setup camp for the night. When dad was connecting to the electricity a park ranger came by and told him that the water was off because he was replacing some of the valves. Dad said that was ok because he really just needed the electricity. After mom and dad finished setup camp dad turned on the air conditioner. Then dad barbecued hamburgers while mom went to the visitor center to pay for the night. When mom got back to the site dad was almost finished with the burgers. When the burgers were done we all went inside. Mom gave me a little treat and then sat down for lunch. After lunch we stayed inside where it was nice and cool. Dad read a book, mom worked on her Sudokui and I slept. Mom needed a break from her Sudokui so she took me for a short walk. It really was a short walk because I wanted to stay where it was cool. When we got back mom took a nap and dad continued reading.

When dinnertime came around the wind was up so mom heated up the leftover pork steaks for wraps and fed me my food. After dinner we stayed in the Minnie until 7:30 and then mom and dad took me for a walk to where the dam was. The sun was starting to go down so it was cooling off . We walked a trail to the observation point to look at the dam. The Rio Grande River flows by the park and the dam was built to convert some of the water from the Rio Grande into a canal. As we were looking at the dam we saw a day area along the river so we decided to hike down to it. When we were hiking the trail we saw a couple that was trying to go down to it but didn't know how to get there. Dad told them there was an observation area up the hill. The man told dad that we couldn't get to the day area off the trail. Dad thanked him and we decided to continue on the trail and the couple decided to go to the observation point. We hiked the trail to the group camping area. When we got to the camping area there was a big group there. It was a group of boy scouts and their families. We walked by the group dad didn't want me to disturb them so we continued on our way. At the end of the camping area there was a trail that went to the day area. We hiked the trail to a bridge that went over the canal. There was a gate on the bridge so mom and dad had to climb over it. The gate was made out of metal poles that were parallel to the ground so I just climbed under it. Dad was surprised that I walked over the bridge without freaking out. The bridge was a metal and the other day when we had to climb down the metal staircase I freak out. Once we got to the day area mom took pictures. It was a nice area. It had picnic tables and by the river it looked liked a beach. There was a sign that told you that the current was strong but it didn't say you couldn't swim. As we were walking around we could see the couple we passed on the trail at the observation point. When we finished walking around we went back to the Minnie. When we got back we called it a night.

We woke up about 6:00. Mom and dad got dressed and then mom fed me. When we finished our breakfast mom and dad took me for a walk around the campground. When we returned to the Minnie mom and dad got ready to leave. We left Leasburg Dam State park. We're headed towards Austin. We're planning to stay at South Llano River State Park. When we were driving through El Paso mom wanted a breakfast taco so we stopped at Rudy's and while mom went inside to get breakfast tacos dad got gas. We continued our adventure to South Llano River State Park. We stopped again in Fort Stockton for lunch. While we were having breakfast dad called South Llano River State Park to see if there were any openings. The lady that answered the phone said it was full so dad decided to drive all the way to Austin. Dad drove 660 miles for 14 hours. We left New Mexico at 6:30 am and got home at 10:30 pm. Mom and dad were tired so they just empty the refrigerator and decided to wait to morning to do everything else. We had a great time on our Spring Trip. Below is the summary of our trip.

Our Spring Trip in 2010 was 4618 miles for five weeks. We visited four different states ( Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado). While visiting the four states we camped in ten State Parks ( Arizona 1, Utah 1, Colorado 3 and New Mexico 5), two National Parks, two National Monuments ( Utah 1, Colorado 2 and New Mexico 2), four BLM Areas and one National Forest ( Utah 1 and New Mexico 4).

May Boating Adventures 2010

Tuesday May 25, 2010 - Thursday May 27, 2010

We came back from our Spring Trip Saturday night and put the Minnie away for the summer. We don't go on any Camping Adventures in the summer because it gets too hot here in Austin so we put the Minnie away and bring out the boat. This year should be a great year for our Boating Ad ventures because we have had a lot of rain and Lake Travis is full. Since we been home mom and dad been busy washing the car, the truck and the Minnie. They also got the boat ready for the summer. Tuesday the boat was ready to go in the water. So mom and dad put the boat in Lake Travis at the Homeowners' Park. They left me home with a Kong. Mom and dad stayed on the lake for about 2 hours. While they were at the lake they skied, wake boarded and Air Chaired. They had a great time. When they got home I ran down the drive to meet them. They had so much fun Tuesday they went back Wednesday and Thursday. While mom and dad were at the lake on Wednesday they saw a young couple (Tyler and Michelle) trying to get up on a wake board so they stopped to help them. Tyler already knew how to wake board and was trying to teach Michelle how to. Dad asked them if he could help and they said sure. Mom and dad worked with Michelle for about an hour and she finally got up on the board. After Michelle learned to wake board dad pulled Tyler around the lake so he could wake board.
Michelle and Tyler thanked mom and dad for all their help and then mom and dad came home. Thursday mom and dad went back to the lake. They skied, wake boarded and swam. Mom and dad are very excited about the lake being full and know they will be in the lake a lot this year.
