Friday October 31, 2008

It’s Halloween and we are back at Jim Hogg Park. The campgrounds are very quiet. Hardly anyone is here. Mom and dad decided to set up camp at the campsite next to the one we stayed at last weekend. After mom and dad set up camp we went for walk around the campground. We didn’t walk too far because it was still hot out. As we were walking we saw three deer by the restroom. The deer saw us and just stood there and watched us. We watched them until they went into the trees. When they left we turned around and went back to the campsite.

When we returned to the campsite it was time for dinner. Mom and dad had sausages for dinner and I had my special food. After dinner we went for another walk. The walk was longer then the first one because it was starting to cool off. We walked around both loops. When we were walking around the lower loop we saw a deer in the cactus. He was hard to see because he blended into his environment. There was hardly anyone camping so there were a lot of empty campsites so mom and dad decided to sit at one the picnic table to enjoy the lake. While mom and dad were sitting at the table we saw a boat on the lake. Mom and dad thought the people in the boat were wake boarding but they were trying to barefoot. They started by sitting on a knee board and than they would get up on their feet and leave the board behind. It was fun watching them. Mom took pictures of them. When they left the sun was starting to go down. Mom took pictures of the sunset. After mom finished taking pictures we went back to the campsite. We sat around the campsite until it got dark. Before we went inside mom took pictures of the moon.

Saturday November 1, 2008

I woke mom and dad up about 7:30 am. Mom fed me breakfast and than took me for a walk. While we were on our walk dad could dressed. When we returned to the Minnie mom and dad had breakfast. After breakfast we went on a 4 mile hike.

At the beginning of our hike dad tripped and twisted his ankle. We thought maybe we would have to turn around and go back to the campsite but dad said he was ok. We continued our hike. We did the same hike as we did last weekend. During the hike we saw deer. After we crossed the creek we came upon a deer feeder. Mom decided to take pictures of it. As mom was taking pictures of the feeder a few deer ran from the feeder into the trees behind it. After she finished taking pictures we continued our hike. When we got to a rock ledge we decided to rest before we went back to the campsite. On the way back to the campsite we saw a beautiful buck in a field of cactus so mom took a picture of him. He was just standing there watching us. When we got back to the campsite we were tired. So we stayed around the campsite all afternoon.

After dinner we walked around the upper loop. We didn’t walk too far because we weren’t fully recovered from the hike we took in the morning.

Sunday November 2, 2008

I woke mom and dad up at 6:30 am. Mom got up and fed me my breakfast. When I finished my breakfast mom took me for a walk. We just walked down the road and turned around to go back to the Minnie. Mom and dad sat down and had breakfast. After they finished their breakfast we went for a 3 mile hike. We started are hike along the park’s fence line. While we were hiking along the fence line we saw a family hunting in their backyard. Dad thought it was funny because the family had a deer feeder about 40 feet from where they were sitting waiting for the deer to come to the feeder. Two boys were sitting in a tree and their dad was in a blind on the ground. I think we surprised the family because I don’t think they expected anyone to be hiking along the fence line. I just wanted to play with them but dad called me so we could continue our hike. We hiked to the main road and crossed it. Once we were on the other side we changed our usually hike a little bit. We went down a trail that went to the left of the fence line. The trail was a small loop that led back to the main road. We hiked along the main road to the boat ramp. While we were hiking along the road we saw a beautiful buck in the trees. Once we got to the boat ramp we walked down the ramp so I could get a drink of water. While I was drinking mom took pictures of the lake. We saw a fisherman fishing, a family walking along the bank of the lake and a fisherman putting his boat in the lake. After mom finished taking pictures we went back to the Minnie. When we returned to the Minnie mom and dad started to break camp. I had a great weekend at Jim Hogg Park now it’s time to go home so I can rest.

Friday November 7, 2008

The weather is starting to cool off so mom and dad decided to go camping at Muleshoe Bend Park for the weekend. We arrived at
Muleshoe Bend Park at 3:30. When we got to the campsite mom and dad set up camp and I went exploring. While we were doing our routine we saw deer watching us. We stopped doing what we were doing and watched them for a few minutes. After we finished watching the deer we went for a walk along the banks of Lake Travis. There were people fishing off the bank so mom and dad walked me away from them because they didn't want me to bother them. As soon as we reached the water I jumped into the lake for a swim. When I finished swimming we continued our walk. The lake was low and there was mud everywhere and I couldn’t resist rolling in the mud. I was so muddy mom told me I had to go swimming again. After I got all the mud off myself we continue our walk mom and dad directed me away from the mud. When we returned to the campsite it was time for dinner. Mom and dad had bacon sandwiches for dinner and I had my special food.

After dinner we sat in our chairs. As we were sitting on our chair watched the deer. There were deer all over the place. Deer were in the trees behind us, the campsites that were not being occupied, hiding in the tall grass eating and walking to the lake for a drink. As we were watching them they were watching us. We saw a few deer a couple of campsites from us just enjoying the grass until a group of girls showed up. When the girls showed up the deer ran away because they were scared. A few deer walked down to the lake for a drink. They walked to a creek that was right next to the fishermen. This was very interesting watching because the deer got real close to people. We sat in our chairs until dark. Then we went inside the Minnie for the night. Mom worked on her word book, dad read his magazines and I slept.

Saturday November 8, 2008

I woke mom and dad up at
6:30 am. Mom and dad didn’t want to get out of bed because it was a little nippy in the Minnie. We have a clock that tells you the temperature inside and outside. The temperature in the Minnie was 45.9 degrees and outside it was 42.4 degrees. But I wouldn’t let them stay in bed mom got up and gave me breakfast so she could get dress. After mom got dress she took me for walk around the campsite. While we were walking we saw a couple of deer watching us. When we returned to the Minnie dad was out of bed and dressed. Mom and dad sat down at the table and had breakfast. After they finished their breakfast we went for a hike.

Our hike was 5.5 miles. We decided to hike along the lake to the park fence line because it would give the sun a chance to come up and warm everything up a bit. As we walked along the lake we saw fog coming off the lake. We also saw deer all over the place. When we got to the fence line we hiked up a steep hill to get to the part of the hiking trail that leads you to the main entrance. Once we got to the main entrance we were tired so we stopped at the picnic table to rest.

As we were resting a few people showed up with their dogs. One dog’s named was Lola and the other one was Jake. Lola was at Muleshoe Bend with her mom. When Jake showed up with his mom and dad Lola and her mom got out of the car. Lola and I couldn’t resist each other so we started to play. Lola thought I was her sister because I was a white lab just like me. When Jake was let out of the car he joined in the fun. We played until their masters were ready to go for a jog around the bike trail. After they left mom and dad were finished resting so we continued our hike.

The remainder of the hike was the last 2 ½ miles of the mountain bike trail. While we were hiking this part of the trail we saw a few people riding their bikes. Two of the bikers stopped and said hi to us. I was happy they did because we had not seen anyone on the first part of our hike. We were about 2 miles into this part of hike when I was getting tired so we took a short cut through the trees. The short cut takes you to the lake and the camping area. On one of the sites we saw a lot of people and a couple of dogs. One of the dogs was very friendly and wanted to play with me. This dog’s name was Sky. Her masters called her back but she really didn’t want to go back. In fact she wanted to follow me back to our site to play I was glad she went back because I was too tired to play. When we passed by her campsite there was another dog there. We both said hi and we continued our adventure back to the campsite. We walked by the campsite the girls stayed at and they were getting ready to leave already but they took time and said hi to us. When we got back I went straight to my chair to rest before lunch.

For lunch mom and dad had hamburgers. I had a snack. In the afternoon we stayed around the campsite because I was too tired to go for anywhere. It was a very relaxing afternoon. We saw a few boats on the lake and they were fishing boats. The fishermen that we saw on the bank were getting ready to leave. They had spent the night fishing and it was time for them to go home. Dad saw a butterfly and took a few pictures of it.

At dinner mom and dad had chile pie. While dad was cooking chile we saw a couple more boats and a float plane. The plane landed on the lake and that was so cool to see. Dad took pictures of the plane. When the plane left we sat down and had dinner. Mom and dad ate their chile pie and I had my special food. After dinner we went for a mile hike around the park. We walked down to the lake where there were fishermen. On the way back we saw some deer. I surprised mom and dad because as soon as I saw the deer I ran after them. I knew I couldn’t catch them but it was fun. When I came back to mom and dad they said they were surprise I ran so far because I was tired. We went back to the campsite and sat in our chairs until it started to get cold. We went inside and mom baked some sugar cookies.

Sunday November 9, 2008
I woke up mom and dad about 7:00 am. It was as cold as it was yesterday. Mom got out of bed and fed me so she could get dress. After she got dress she took me for a walk around the campsite. We saw a few deer but there wasn’t any fog coming off the lake. When we returned to the Minnie mom sat down with dad to have breakfast.

After breakfast we went on another 4.5 miles hike. Our hike was the opposite way as we did yesterday. We hiked along the main road to the mountain bike trail. We hiked trail to the main entrance where we rested. After our rest we hiked to the fence line and than we hiked down the fence line until we came to a dirt road that takes you to the campsites.

When we were hiking the trail we saw people camped out by the trail and they had a Labrador he wanted to join us but his master held him back. We hiked a little further down the trail when dad found some car keys. When we got to the main entrance dad handed in the keys to the park host. While we were resting we met a mountain biker. It was his first time at Muleshoe Bend so he didn’t know which way to go. His friends decided to ride their bikes the opposite direction than they usually rode. He started down the trail the right way but he wasn’t sure so he turned around and came back. Dad told him he was going the right way. After we were rested we headed back to the campsite. We hiked to the fence line and hiked down the hill. We were almost down the hill when we saw a couple of deer. One jumped over the fence towards us and the other one stayed on the other side of the fence. When I saw the deer jump over the fence I was very excited so I chased after it. The deer saw us so it decided to jump back over the fence to get back to the other deer. When we arrived at the dirt road we hiked the road to get back. While hiking the road we saw a couple of vehicles driving around. We also saw the biker again. Dad asked him if he lost the trail. He said yes. Dad told him which way to go and the biker said he had been there and trail brought him down the hill to us. Dad explained to him that where the trail Y at people had camped on both sides of the trail and that it was confusing. Dad told him to go to the left and that will keep him on the trail. The biker thanked us and said he would try to find the trail. When we got back to the Minnie I was glad and I went straight to my chair and rested while mom and dad broke camp. I had a great time at Muleshoe Bend Park.

The parks we have been stay at you can’t have a campfire because Texas hasn’t had rain in awhile and there is a burn ban in affect. There is a cold front scheduled to come through so dad wanted to go camping where there was water and electricity. Dad called a couple of state parks and the park hosts told him that there were no openings. Mom and dad really wanted to go camping so they decided to go back to Muleshoe Bend Park. Mom made sure we had plenty of blankets just in case the front came through.

Friday November 14, 2008

We arrived at Muleshoe Bend about 4:00 pm. This visit was different than the others because dad decided to stay at another campsite then we usually stay at. The campsite we stayed at was 2 sites away from our normal site. This campsite is designed for multiple campers so dad could park the Minnie in multiple places. Dad decided to park near a tree because it looked like it was leveled the best. Mom and dad set up camp and I did some exploring. I think I’m going to like this site because I have a bigger area to explore and I don’t have as far to walk to get to the trail. Mom and dad put our chairs at a great place on the site because when we sat in our chairs we have a magnificent view of the hills across
Lake Travis. When mom and dad finished setting up camp we sat on our chairs until dinner. While we were sitting in our chairs the wind came up so mom and dad went inside. Mom and dad had sandwiches for dinner. Mom gave me my special food. After dinner we went for a walk around the park. I could walk off leash because the park was almost empty. We hiked about 3 miles. We hiked to the cove across from Camp Travis. During the hike we saw deer standing in the trees watching us walking by. I chased after a couple of the deer but most of them I just watched while they watched us. Most of the deer were too far away for me to catch so I didn’t try. Last week we saw more people camping but today we didn’t see anyone. That was great for me because I could walk off lease and explore a little farther away then normally. The hike was very peaceful and relaxing. When we returned to the Minnie it was getting dark and chilly so we went in for the rest of the night.

Saturday November 15, 2008

I slept in mom’s sit of the Minnie all night. The wind blew hard all night. Sometimes the wind would move the Minnie around. At one point the wind woke me up. When I woke up I thought I saw something out the window so I barked. Mom told me it was ok. After I calmed down I went back to sleep. I slept to
6:30 a.m. This time I was ready to get up so I woke mom and dad. Mom got out of bed and fed me breakfast while she got dress. After mom finished getting dress she took me for a walk around the campsite. We saw deer in the trees behind the Minnie. Maybe the deer were what I thought I saw earlier. When we returned to the Minnie mom and dad had breakfast.

After breakfast we went on a 7 ½ mile hike. We decided to hike the mountain bike trail because the wind was still blowing. We hiked the main road to the mountain bike trail which is ½ mile one way. Once we got to the mountain bike trail we hiked the whole trail which is 6 ½ miles long. On the way to the trail we saw a few deer at the campsite next to our campsite. When I saw them I decided to chase after them but by the time I got where they were they had run into the trees. I was happy just to run to where they were. I looked for them when I couldn’t find them I returned to mom and dad. We continued towards the hiking trail. The deer were too far into the trees for me to run after so I just left them alone. We hiked for awhile when we finally met a couple of mountain bikers. We met the same bikers last weekend. They stopped riding to say hi to me. One of the bikers said his bike was getting a flat tire and this gave him the opportunity to change the tire. After they left we continued on our hike. We hiked just a little ways when we met four more bikers. They were glad to stop and say hi to me because it was cold and they needed a rest. We continued hiking the trail. The trail weaves up and down hills and around the trees. One came down one the hills when we saw one of the bikers on the hill we just came down. He said he was doing some maintenance while he was waiting for his friend to change his flat tire. We hiked a little farther when mom and dad decided to rest a little. They found a log and sat on it. While we were resting we saw deer in the trees and a couple riding their bikes. We hiked all the way to the entrance. When we got to the entrance we sat at the picnic table to rest. After we rested we continued our hike. We were almost finished with our hike when we met up with the other four bikers but this time they were running. I thought how energetic these guys were because they had just finished riding their bikes and now they were running I would be too tired. By the time we got back to the Minnie it was lunch time. But before lunch we sat on our chairs to rest.

It was still windy so mom and dad had chile for lunch. Mom gave me a snack. After lunch we sat on our chairs and just enjoyed the campsite. We noticed that some more people were starting to show up. We sat in our chairs until we got cold and than we went for walk around the campground. Mom and dad didn’t want to bother the people next to us so we walked by the lake. We walked about 2 miles round trip. Dad didn’t want me to get wet so we didn’t walk to close to the lake. While mom and dad were talking and enjoying the walk I saw the lake and decided to go for a swim. By the time mom and dad saw me going towards the lake it was to late. They tried to call me back but I was determined to go for a swim. After I finished swimming we continued our walk. We were close to the fence line when we turned onto a road and headed back towards the Minnie. On the way back we walked by the campsite next to our. Now I know why they didn’t want to bother the people they had two dogs. I saw the dogs but I was too tired and dad had me on leash so I couldn’t play. When we got back to the campsite it was almost dinnertime.

Mom and dad had pancakes for dinner and I had my special food. After dinner we went for another walk by the lake. We didn’t go too far because I was tired. When we were heading back to the Minnie I saw deer grazing. I was very excited so I ran after them I surprised mom and dad because they thought I was tired but I guess I’m never too tired to run after deer. After I chanced the deer I ran back to mom and dad. When we got back to the Minnie it was starting to get dark so we went inside. Mom worked on her book, dad read a magazine and I slept.

Sunday November 16, 2008

I slept in mom’s sit again last night. The wind went down so it didn’t keep me up but I still woke up in the middle of the night. I thought I saw something out the window again so I barked and woke up mom and dad. Mom calmed me down and I went back to sleep. The next time I woke up was about 7:00 am so I woke mom and dad up. Mom got up and fed me so she could get dressed. By the time I finished breakfast mom was ready to take me for a little walk. While we were on our walk we saw deer. When mom and I returned to the Minnie dad was ready to go on a hike. Before our hike mom and dad had a little breakfast. After they finished their breakfast we went on a hike. We hiked about 4 miles along Lake Travis. We hiked to the park’s fence line and back to the Minnie. When we started our hike there was a deer going to get a drink I saw him and mom let go of my leash so I got run after it. It got so cold last night that there was ice on the ground but that didn’t slow me down. When I came back to mom and dad my leash was wet. Dad decided to take off my leash so I could walk off leash. While we were walking along the lake mom and dad made sure I didn’t go swimming. They differently didn’t want me to get wet because we were going to go home pretty soon. When we got to the fence we walked towards the dirt road so we could go back to the campsite. At the dirt road we saw a tractor and mom asked dad to climb in it so she could take a picture. Dad is such a great trooper he climbed in it. As he was sitting in the tractor I wanted to join him but he told me it wasn’t a good idea. After mom finished taking pictures we headed back. When we got back mom and dad broke camp while I rested. We had another great time at Muleshoe Bend Park and I know we will be back.

Friday November 21, 2008

Dad took the week of Thanksgiving off. Mom tried to get the week off but she has to go back to work on Friday. This gave us a prefect opportunity to take a five day camping trip. Mom and dad decided to go to Lake Texana State Park. It is located 160 miles southeast of my house. We have never been to Lake Texana State Park before so this is very exciting for us. We started on our trip after mom and dad got home from work. Dad drove 88 miles to Gonzales Texas to a Wal Mart where we stayed for the night. Mom and dad had sandwiches for dinner and I had my special food.

When dinner was finished it was too early to turn in so mom worked on her number book and dad planned our route for the next day. Our destination is Lake Texana State Park. We have reservations at Lake Texana State Park for the next 4 nights. Lake Texana State Park is 68 miles from Gonzales so this gave us plenty of time to get there. We were close to the coast so mom and dad decided to take a scenic route to get to Lake Texana State Park.

Saturday November 22, 2008

While we were staying at Wal Mart I slept in mom’s chair in the Minnie. I woke up a couple times during the night because I saw people walking by the Minnie. I would bark and wake up mom and dad. Mom would check to make sure that it was ok and then she would tell me it was ok. I finally settled down and slept until 6:30 am. When I woke up I woke mom and dad up. We had breakfast and than mom and dad took me for a walk. During our walk mom took pictures of the Wal Mart. After mom finished we headed towards Lake Texana State Park.

On the way to Lake Texana State Park we drove right by Goose Island State Park We needed to renew our yearly pass for the state parks so we decided to stop at Goose Island State Park. We were glad we did we had a good time. We walked by the water I wanted to go swimming but dad didn’t want me to get wet. Could you imagine how I would smell if I had saltwater in my fur. It wouldn’t be pleasant and we had a ways to go. That was ok we walked to the fishing pier to walk over it but there was a sign that said no pets allowed on the pier, mom and dad wanted to walk the pier so they took me back to the Minnie. As mom and dad walked the pier they saw pelicans, sea gulls and people fishing. People were fishing off the pier and wading in Aransas Bay fishing. When mom and dad were on their way back to me they saw a fisherman catch a speckled trout. He was very excited because the trout was big enough to keep. Mom took pictures of their adventure on the fishing pier. When mom and dad got back to the Minnie we drove around looking at the bayfront camping area. It was lunchtime so we found a picnic table that was available and stopped to have lunch. We watched the seagulls as we ate lunch. Mom gave me a snack while mom and dad ate sandwiches. It was very peaceful by the water. After lunch we continued our trip to Lake Texana State Park.

As we were leaving the park we saw families feeding the pelicans. There were two species of pelicans at Goose Island State Park there were white and gray ones. When we exit the park there was sign for The Big Tree so we decided to check it out. We ended up not seeing the tree because we couldn’t take the Minnie down the street to it because there were too many low hanging tree limbs. The tree was supposed to be about 1000 years old. The circumference is 35 feet, the height is 44 feet and the crown spreads 90 feet. That would be neat to see that big of a tree.

Everyday we were at Lake Texana State Parkwe hiked about 4 miles in the morning. We hiked part of the bike and hike trail each day and in the evening we would walk around the campground. Everyday we saw deer and armadillos.

Saturday November 22, 2008

We arrived at Lake Texana State Park about 4:00 pm. Dad checked in and mom took me for a little walk. After we checked in we went to our campsite. The campground is located around beautiful Lake Texana. Mom and dad set up camp for a few days. After we set up camp we walked around the campground. During our walk we saw an armadillo. When we were walking by the lake we saw a group of girls at the Nature Center. A few of the girls came up to me and pet me. I was very happy to see them and this made my day. When we were walking back to the Minnie and saw deer walking through the campsites. I was surprise to see the deer walking so close to people and seemed like they weren’t afraid of people. When we returned to the campsite we had dinner. Mom and dad had sausages for dinner. I ate my special food.

After dinner we walked around the tent camping area. The walk was about a mile we couldn’t go too far because it was starting to get dark. When we were walking through the tent area we saw the group of girls again. Some of the girls were playing at the playground and a couple of them were barbequing hamburgers. It was a very nice relaxing walk. When we got back we went inside for the evening.

Sunday November 23, 2008

I woke mom and dad up at the usual time 6:30 am. Mom got out of bed and fed me my special food so she could get dress. After I finished eating mom took me for a walk around the campsite. When we returned mom sat down with dad and had breakfast. After breakfast we went for a 4 mile hike. There are 4 different trailheads to the hike and bike trail. We took the number 3 trailhead which is located in the camping area by the main road. The trail crosses over a pipeline field, through trees and along the fence line of the park. When we were hiking across the pipeline field we saw a few deer grazing. They stopped to look at us. As soon as they realized we weren’t going to hurt them they went back to their grazing. While hiking through the trees we saw a cardinal sitting in a tree. A little farther in our hike we had to cross over a bridge that went over a creek that fed the lake. I like crossing over bridges but I preferred to walk through the creeks so get my feet wet. There wasn’t any water in this creek so I decided to stay with mom and dad. During the hike we saw a couple of hawks. One hawk was in a tree and the other hawk was on a windmill. When we were over halfway through the hike we found a bench so mom and dad could rest. While they rested I explored and ate some grass. After mom and dad finished resting we continued our hike. Part of the trail is a short nature trail which is .6 mile long. When we reached this part I met a friend and her mom they were from Victoria. She was a beautiful white dog. She was hiking with her mom. We played while mom and dad visit with her mom. I was very surprise because this is the only friend I met the whole hike. We exit the hiking trail the same place we entered. Mom took pictures along the hike. I real enjoyed the hike even through I got tired. The trail is very well marked with signs. The trail is wide and very easy to hike.

For lunch mom and dad had barbecue pork ribs. I like it when they have pork ribs because I can have the bones. Mom gave me chicken gizzards as a snake. In the afternoon we stayed around the campsite resting. Mom and dad thought because it was Sunday the park would start to empty out but they were wrong. People were leaving but as soon as they left others came in. It was nice just sitting in our chairs watching people. While we were watching people we met our neighbors. One neighbor was a couple from Missouri and they had 2 poodles, a Husky and a cat. After meeting them mom and dad took me for a walk and we met our other neighbor. The lady’s name was Flo just like mine and her husband’s name was Tony. They were from El Campo which is about 30 minutes from here by Houston. They have been coming here for over 30 years. We finished our walk and then went back to the Minnie for dinner. Mom and dad had Frito pie and I had my special food.

In the evening we walked around the tent area. The girls were gone and no one was there. When we returned to the campsite we went in for the rest of night.

I woke mom and dad up at 7:00 am. Mom fed me and got dressed. When I finished my breakfast mom took me for a short morning walk. When we returned to the Minnie mom had breakfast with dad. After breakfast mom and dad took me for a 4 mile hike. We entered at the trailhead we took yesterday. Our hike was a little different then yesterday we hiked along the park boundaries fence line and exit at trailhead 4. This trailhead is located by one of the restrooms. During the hike we saw deer. Along the fence we saw a deer blind. Mom and dad thought they saw an old homestead but when we got where they thought it there was nothing there but trees. I think mom and dad saw the trees and thought they were the house. Dad saw a cool looking cobweb and took pictures of it. Once again we didn’t see anyone on the trail I didn’t even see my friend from yesterday. We stopped at the same bench we did yesterday to rest. I lay down to rest with mom and dad because it was a little humid. By the time we got back to the campsite it was time for lunch.

Mom and dad had ham sandwiches for lunch. In the afternoon we sat around the campsite because we were tired. It is always nice and peaceful around the campsite. Mom works on her word or number books. Dad will read a book or magazines. I just lie on my chair and sleep if there is nothing else going on. Today people were walking their dogs so I had to say hi to each one so I didn’t sleep much. When dinnertime came around mom and dad had sandwiches and I ate my special food.

After dinner we walked around the tent area. There was only one person there and he had a dog. I said hi to the dog earlier but I still wanted to say hi again. Dad didn’t want me to disturb them so he held me back and we walked the other way. I didn’t care because I still saw the dog and I was walking with my mom and dad. When we got back to the Minnie it was time to go in. We have another day here and I need to get some sleep so I can go hiking tomorrow.

Now that I’m in a routine I didn’t want to break it. So I woke mom and dad up at 7:00 am. Mom fed me and got dressed. We walked around the campsite. When we got back mom had breakfast with dad. After breakfast I hiked to the picnic area. The picnic area is located on the other side of Lake Texana. Before we left the camping area we saw a few deer in a field watching us. Mom took pictures of them. We had to hike along the main road so had to stay on leash. We hiked along the road and followed the signs to the picnic area. As we walked around the picnic area we saw a few cranes. One crane was sitting on the fishing pier so dad took a few pictures. Each time he took a picture he would get a little closer. He got real close before the crane flew away. I wanted to go with dad but mom held me back. The boat ramp is located at the picnic area. It is wide enough for 2 trailers. While we were at the picnic area we saw birds and deer. The picnic area is beautiful and very well maintained. On the way back from the picnic area we stopped at yard that was decorated for Thanksgiving so dad took pictures of the yard, mom and me. I real didn’t want to get my picture taken but mom made me. After the picture shoot we hiked a little of the hiking trail. We hadn’t hiked one section of the trail so mom and dad decided to hike it. The trailhead is number 2 and starts by the tent camping area. We hiked for about 2 miles and came out at trailhead 4 by the restroom. When we returned to the campsite we were tired so we sat on our chairs to relax.

While we were relaxing our neighbors with the 3 dogs and cat were getting ready to leave. Shortly after they left another couple showed up. They had a couple of dogs. The dogs didn’t seem too friendly because a young girl went over to say hi and they barked and growled. The lady calmed them down and told them to be nice. We sat in our chairs about an hour and then we had lunch. Mom and dad had steaks for lunch and mom gave me a snack.

After lunch we went for a walk around the campground and by the lake. We didn’t walk too far because I was still trying to recuperate from all the hiking we have done the last three days. When we got back to the Minnie mom worked on her number book, dad read a book and I slept.

When dinnertime came around mom heated up Jambalaya for dad and her. She fed me my special food. After dinner we went for another walk around the campground. I met more people and saw more dogs. When we returned to the Minnie it was time to call it a night.

I woke mom and dad at the usually time 7:00 am. Mom fed me and got dressed. When I finished breakfast mom took me for a walk. When we returned to the Minnie mom and dad had breakfast. After breakfast mom and dad started to break camp because it’s time to go home. We left Lake Texana State Park at 7:30 am. When dad was at the dump station we saw a few deer watching us. So mom took pictures of them. Lake Texana State Park is a great park to visit. There are many things to do. I had a fantastic time hiking, sleeping, walking and relaxing around the campsite. I always enjoy my camping adventures even though I get tired and take a few days for me to recuperate because I meet people and dog friends.
