On the weekends mom and dad prefer to do their water sports in the morning because there are fewer boats on lake. The last few weekends the air temperature was starting to cool off in the morning and the boat wasn’t getting used so dad decided to winterize it. Today mom and dad trailered the boat to
Mansfield dam on Lake Travis. Mom and dad took the boat for a little spin around the lake before winterizing it. Mom said it was too cold for her to water ski so neither one of them did. They didn’t even go swimming. I thought mom was a wimp because they trailered the boat all the way to the dam and didn’t even go swimming.

After mom and dad finished their drive around the lake dad winterized the boat. While dad was winterizing the boat mom watched a cute pup playing with its mom and dad. Dad told mom the pup’s mom didn’t think it was too cold to get wet. Also while dad was winterizing the boat a big truck showed up with a huge boat. The men back the boat into the lake. They told me that this was interesting just watch the men back it boat down the ramp. When dad finished winterizing the boat mom and dad came home to me.

Summer is over it’s time to start our Camping Adventures again. I’m ready to go. This weekend we’re going to Cedar Breaks Park.

Friday October 17, 2008

Mom and dad had to work. I was waiting for mom and dad when they came home. Mom and dad finished getting ready to go to Cedar Breaks Park. We arrived at Cedar Breaks Park at 3:30 pm. Dad asked the park host if we could get a campsite for the weekend. The host told him yes. Once mom and dad found a site dad checked in. While dad was checking in mom took me for a walk.

After mom and dad set-up camp they took me for a walk before dinner. We walked down to the boat ramp and the picnic area of the park. As we were walking we saw a big armadillo digging in the trees. He was the biggest armadillo I have ever seen. I really wanted to play with it but I was on leash and I couldn’t. After watching the armadillo we walked to the picnic area. After walking around the picnic area we headed back to the campsite. As we walked back to the Minnie we saw a couple of deer in the trees. When we got back to the Minnie it was time for dinner. Mom and dad had bacon sandwiches for dinner and I had my special food. After dinner we sat around the campsite and just enjoyed the evening. When it started to get dark we went inside the Minnie.

Saturday October 18, 2008

Saturday morning I woke mom and dad up at 6:30 am. Mom got out of bed and fed me breakfast while she got dress. After breakfast mom took me for a short walk so dad could get dress. When mom and I returned to the Minnie mom and dad ate breakfast. Mom and dad took their time eating breakfast because the sun doesn’t come out until 7:30 am.

At 8:00 am we started our hike. Our hike was about 5 miles round trip. We hiked along the main road until we got to the road that leads to the dam. Then we hiked to the dam. Once at the dam we hiked over the dam and .2 miles of the hiking trail that leads to the parking lot at the spillway. Then we turned around and went back to the campsite.

It was a great hike we saw fishermen on Lake Georgetown, met people hiking the trail and riding bikes on the trail. We met one lady riding her bike on the dam. In fact we saw her many times. Once we got to the other side of the dam mom and dad sat on a rock to rest and I lay on the ground. While we were resting I saw a few dogs hiking with their masters. After a few minutes we continued our hike. We hiked down the spillway trail until we reached a bench where we rested again. During this rest time we met a couple of ladies hiking. We also saw a dad and his two sons riding their bikes on the trail. After we were rested we hiked back to the campsite.

On the way back I did a little exploring. We were hiking over the dam I smelled something in the air so I decided to find out what it was. Dad noticed that I wasn’t behind them so mom and dad came looking for me. When mom and dad called for me I realized my exploration took me on the side of the dam. It took me a little while to get back to them because there were a lot of rocks for me to climb over. When we got to the road to the dam I was really tired so mom and dad decided to rest again. During our rest I saw another dog but I was way too tired to even react to him. After I rested a little we finished our hike.

When we got back to the campsite I was really tired so I went straight to my chair to sleep. Mom and dad sat in the chair until lunch time. After lunch mom want to take me to the lake so I could go swimming. I was tired but I wanted to go swimming. Dad knew I was tired and it would take us along time to get to the lake the regular route so he decided to look for a shorter route. We looked for the route but we couldn’t so we went back to the campsite. That was ok with me because I really was too tired to go swimming anyways. I was so tired I slept all afternoon. When it was time to go to bed I was still tired so I slept in mom’s seat in the Minnie instead of my own bed.

Sunday October 19, 2008

I was so tired I slept until 7:30 a.m. I woke up mom and dad I was ready to go for a walk. Mom got out of bed and fed me so she could get dress. After she got dress she took me for a little walk so dad could get dress. When we returned mom and dad had breakfast. After breakfast mom and dad took me on a walk. We walked around the campground I was still tired from yesterday I barely made it back to the Minnie. By the time we got back to the campsite I was really dragging. When I got back I crawled up into my chair and went to sleep. Mom and dad got ready to leave. We left Cedar Breaks early because I was too tired to go for another hike.

Friday October 24, 2008

We arrived at Jim Hogg Park about 4 p.m. Mom took me for a walk while dad checked in. After dad checked in we went to our campsite where mom and dad set-up camp for the weekend. When mom and dad finished it was time for dinner. Mom and dad had pastrami sandwiches and potato salad for dinner and I had my special food.

There are two campgrounds at Jim Hogg the lower loop and upper loop. The lower loop is closer to the lake and more people stay there. We stay at the upper loop because less people stay there for me to pester.

After dinner we walked around both campgrounds. While we were walking the lower loop dad saw a RV and a couple of vehicles in front of it. He told mom that the truck looked like a friend of his truck so out of curiosity he went to the door of the RV to see if it was his friend or not. When he got to the door his friend opened the door. His friend was Dave. He was there with his wife Ginger and his pets. Dave has two dogs, parakeet, cockatiel and a Siamese cat. While mom and dad visit with Dave and Ginger I played with the two dogs. When mom and dad finished their visit we continued our walk. When we got back to the campsite we sat in our chairs. It was a beautiful evening so we sat in our chairs until dark than we went inside the Minnie.

Saturday October 25, 2008

I woke mom and dad up at 6:30 am. Mom fed me my special food while she got dress. When I was done eating my breakfast mom took me for a little walk. We didn’t go too far because mom wanted to get back to the Minnie to have breakfast with dad. After mom and dad ate breakfast we went on a hike.

The hike was 4 miles long for about 2 ½ hours. It was a very peaceful hike. We caught the hiking trail behind our campsite. This part of the trail went along the park fence line. On the other side of the fence are beautiful homes. We hiked along the fence line to the main road of Jim Hogg Park. When we reached the road we crossed the road to continue the hike. Once we were across the road we continued the hike along the fence line until we reached the main hiking trail. We hiked up and down hills through the trees. While we were hiking we saw a few deer. The deer were in front of us and watched us until we got too close and than they ran up the hill. I didn’t chase after the deer because they were too far away but I watched them run. Our hike took us to a creek. Mom and dad had to walk on some rocks to get across the creek but I just walked through it. I was glad to get to the creek because it gave me an opportunity to get my feet wet and I could get a drink. When we got to the other side we hiked through a meadow. In the meadow we saw a deer feeder. Just pass the meadow we hiked up a hill to a ledge where mom and dad decided to rest. While mom and dad rested I did a little exploring. I didn’t go too far because I was starting to get tired. After mom and dad were rested we headed back to the campsite. On the way back we saw a fisherman on the lake. We didn’t see anyone on the hiking trail until we were almost to the main road. We saw a man walking his two dogs. When he saw us he decided to go down another trail. I guess maybe he didn’t want his dogs to disturb us. Mom and dad thought that was nice. When we got back to the back campsite I was really tired so I crawled up into my chair to rest. Mom and dad sat in their chairs until lunchtime.

For lunch mom and dad had chile. Mom fed me some chicken gizzards for a snack. After lunch mom and dad played a few games of Yahtzee. When they finished playing Yahtzee we went for walk around the upper loop of the campground. During our walk I met a little girl and her mom. We met a group of people a few campsite from us. The group had a couple of dogs and some kids. The group had three campsites. We didn’t go too far because I was tired. When we got back to the Minnie we sat in our chairs enjoying the nice day. When it was time for dinner mom and dad had pancakes and I had my special food.

After dinner mom and dad went for a walk around the upper and lower loops of the campground. They left me in the Minnie because I was too tired to move. When mom and dad returned we stayed inside because it was starting to get dark. I slept the rest of the night. Dad read the newspaper and mom did her word book until it time for bed.

Sunday October 26, 2008

I woke mom and dad up at 6:30 am again. Mom fed me and then took me for a walk. After mom and dad had breakfast they took me on the same walk they had taken last night. We walked to the boat ramp and around the upper and lower loops. As we walked through the upper loop we saw people starting to move around. When we got to the boat ramp dad let me get my feet wet in the lake. Dad didn’t want me to go swimming because we were going to go home in a little while and didn’t want me to smell like wet dog. That was ok I got my feet wet and that felt great. As we were walking around the bank of the lake mom decided to try to skip some rocks. Mom told dad she forgot how to skip rocks because it wasn’t working. Dad told her it was because she was too far away from the water. As we continued to walk on the banks we got closer to the water so mom tried to skip rocks. This time she was successful. Dad and I were very happy for mom. After mom was finished skipping rocks we started to go back to the campsite. While we were walking back we saw a couple of dads fishing with their two sons. When we got back to the Minnie mom and dad started to break camp.

For the last couple of week mom and dad have been hanging around the house hardly doing anything so they were starting to get bored. The air temperature is starting to cool off in the morning and my parents don’t like fighting the crowds on the lake in the afternoon so they haven’t been going to the lake lately. Mom and dad are starting to get bored so they decided to take me to the homeowners’ park to go swimming. I was very excited. Maybe I will see some of my people and dog friends.

When we got to the park no one was there. Mom and dad sat at the picnic table as I did my normal routine of exploring and swimming. After awhile I got bored so I went back to mom and dad. I was lying on the ground resting when I saw a black dog walking around. I was excited I have a friend to play with. Dad asked mom if she every saw that dog before. She told dad yes the dog was Pablo and he belongs to Dana. We looked to see where Dana was and there she was right behind him. When Pablo saw me he ran to me so we could play. We ran around the park and went swimming. Pablo had a lot more energy then I did. So when I was tired he would come up to me and paw me when he want to play some more. Pablo would jump over me occasionally. Pablo and I played while mom and dad visit with Dana. After mom and dad finished visiting with Dana they took me home. That was ok because I was ready to leave.

Mom had to go to the homeowners’ park so she invited me to go with her. I didn’t hesitate. When we got to the park mom parked the truck by the dumpsters and let me out of the truck because she had to get rid of our garbage. While she was doing that I went exploring. When mom got finished we walked down to the lake so I could go swimming. After I swam for awhile we headed back to the truck. On our way back to the truck we met Sadie and her master Megan. Sadie was excited to see me so she jumped over me and ran around me. While mom and Megan talked Sadie and I played. After I played with Sadie for awhile mom and I went home and Megan and Sadie finished their run around the park.
